Hello again!
I know... It has nothing to do with the (possible) movie "The Tomb", but maybe for a next one...
What do you think of Janeane Garofalo for the adult Weezie?

I think she'd be a great choice...

Except... at the rate things are going by the time of the next one, it'll likely have to be her grand-daughter. Smile

And I know he's too old now, but when I first read The Tomb (when it first came out), I thought Ben Kingsley would have been a good Ksum.

I know, I know...he's not Indian. Tell it to Ghandi. Smile

I can see why someone would pick John Goodman as Abe, but what about Joe Polito? It took me about half an hour to remember his name, but I can't help picturing him every time I think of Abe Smile

Did you mean Joe Polito or Jon Polito? Jon seems more the physical type.

oh yes, sorry. Jon Polito. I like the idea of Janeane Garofalo for Wheezy, too. What are your thoughts on Danny Trejo for Julio?

HI Opopanax!
Danny Trejo for Julio? Hum... In a bar like "Titty Twister" ok! But in Manhattan? I find him too... fringe!
I don't know anymore who has proposed Luis Guzman for Julio, and I find he would be okay.
At the beginning, I tought Julio were an Italian! Why this? I don't know...

Bwahaha! Okay...maybe you've got a point, Ludo. I hadn't really thought of Luis Guzman, but now that you (or whoever it was that) mentioned it, I totally agree. That would be fantastic. Has anyone thought of Waris Singh as Kusum? He played in The Life Aquatic and The Darjeeling Limited. I think he could really play the role with distinction.

Hello Opapanax!
I've made a short search on google, and I found this Photo of Waris Singh:

He's probably an excellent actor, I've not seen the films you mentioned, but if you remember the story, Kusum is approx. 40, maybe 50 years old.
He has to make a serious make up to look older.
Otherwise... his eyes are too... gentle? In other words, he looks like a nice guy. Not like the terrific John Barrymore in Svengali!
I find it's very difficult to find the right actor for this character.
to be continued...

Every time you mention SvengaliI can't help but think of the Barkley's of Broadway (Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers), so I guess the terror is a little lost on me. Smile
As for Waris, keep in mind that Kusum had his own iron necklace that kept him young(ish). Besides, the actor is already in his late 30s, a little makeup and he's there.
You're right about him not looking particularly intense, but think about it - Kusum was a diplomat, right? Men wear many masks...
If I had my copy of The Tomb on hand I would be furiously flipping through it looking for a better description of him...but alas I find myself at the disadvantage of being at work....

I'm not wasting company time writing on message boards. It's never a waste of time...

You know, if you could convince him to gain about 100 pounds, Mark Margolis would be PERFECT for Abe.

Or am I just crazy????
