Excellent question.

Here's an odd thought from out of the blue....I was searching for a LOST T-shirt to get for a friend. I saw one with the hieroglyphics from the hatch. There were about 5 or 6 in a row, and the last one looked like a volcano exploding. Ha! I am still holding on to my guess that the volcano that was mentioned once in Season 3 will show up as a major factor in the show's finale.

You do hold strong to that theory. Big Grin

Hmmm if smokey came out of the light tunnel. What would happen if he somehow gets forced back down in it?

Now that's an interesting question! And what could force him down? Why, another smokey! Big Grin

But if you remember back to when Ben called the smoke monster to get rid of the Freighties, Ben went into an ancient tunnel beneath the Dharma house (which later we learned was where Jughead, the hydrogen bomb was also hidden). Ben pulled what seemed like a plug in a puddle of water, which drained out. He spoke into the hole at the bottom. Ben came back out of the tunnel, and not long after, the smoke monster ran riot on the Frieghties. I wonder if that room where Jughead was stored, which was underwater (remember Eloise, Richard Alpert, Jack, and then Sayid all had to swim through a deep tunnel before they could enter the place where Jughead was hidden), is somehow connected to the river tunnel where the Bright Light is. Wouldn't that be smokey's "home?"

The difference was that the mother did not get a chance to speak before MIB stabbed her. Whether she was a smoke monster or "just" a nearly indestructible human, the no-speaking thing seems to be pretty important.

Hurley is the best of them, that's true, but even he is not completely innocent. There was that little incident where he ran down at least a couple of Others on the beach with the Dharma van. It was justifiable, sure, but you could also make a strong argument of the same for several others.

I think one of the main themes of Lost is that no one is entirely good or entirely bad. Everything we do is a choice and with every choice we are free to choose the light rather than the dark.

Maybe it's the village and well scenes that still have me doubting it. Those things happened before MIB died but it seems there was already a smoke monster. Unless we believe the fake mother destroyed that village herself and filled in the well. Which I would seriously doubt unless she was a smoke monster also. Which, again, I'm not saying isn't correct. I just don't see that as having been answered yet.

We shall see (I hope). I can see the strong possibility of the smoke monster existing before Jacob tossed MIB down that hole and that the real MIB died and Smokey assumed his form. I see that, but it doesn't feel right. I'm going to stick with my gut which tells me MIB became the smoke monster in that hole.

We also didn't get near enough information about the mother to know what she was capable of doing all on her own. She obviously had at least some magical abilities. Perhaps she had quite a few, some of them of a destructive nature.

Maybe we'll know these things for sure before it's all over. I'm worried, though, that time is running out and there is still so much to wrap up. I wish they could take back that Nikki & Paulo hour and put it to better use resolving some of these big mysteries. Sad

The theater a few cities down will be showing the LOST series finale on IMAX for the cost of $20, the same price to see the Mayweather-Mosley fight. So, the question was answered about who was faster and stronger: Mayweather. What questions will be answered with the LOST finale? Who cares? I'm tired of all the shallow posturing and theorizing by self-professed experts. LOSTpedia has taken all the fun out of guessing. I'll pay the twenty bucks, but that's it. End of show. Team Locke or Team Unlocke? AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

P.S. Please, no more. My eyes are bleeding, but I must keep watching....

$20! Wow. Our Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas all show it for free. Of course they are bringing you in to eat and drink which would cost more than a ticket! But since the Final episode won't end until 10:30pm that Sunday we'll be watching it from home. My son and I both have school and work the next day.

For some reason I forgot the finale was going to be on sunday. Hmmm good think I remembered If I would have forgotten it my DVR probably wouldn't have recorded it over other shows. Close one.

Excellent point. It's imperative, then, to sneak up and get 'em from behind when dealing with a smoke-monster-in-human-form, otherwise they will know to open their mouth and, well, it's all downhill from there. Big Grin

I suspect there can be more than one smoke monster. But no one, except Jacob, knows how AND WHERE to create one. I'm not sure he actually knew what would come out of the River of Light Tunnel when he threw his brother in, but out came Old Smokey, or, perhaps Brand New Smokey.

Jacob is not out of the picture entirely, so don't count out another smoke monster on the horizon. Smile

FYI NY Losties:

Lost Party At The Paley Center

Lost fans, we want you to know you're not alone. The series finale is steamrolling towards us and...we're just not ready. The only way to cope is to party, so we teamed up with the Paley Center and are holding a bash in NYC on Saturday, May 22nd.

In our...professional pop culture opinion, Lost is one of the greatest "mythology" shows of all time - and by that we mean it's right up there with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files. After six
glorious seasons (ok, five, but we forgive them for those cages!) it feels like our world will end with the show on May 23rd. Thankfully, we're having a party so we all can ease our pain amongst friends.

NYCC and the Paley Center will jointly present a fun-filled celebration of the series with a slew of events: a DHARMA aptitude test (aka trivia contest), games, prizes, giveaways, a panel discussion and a special screening of the premiere of Lost: The Enhanced Pilot, directed by J.J. Abrams, featuring pop-up trivia facts from the executive producers. Don't tough it out by yourself, come party with your people and get Lost at the Paley Center!

The bash is free for Paley Center members and $10 for the general public. For tickets and information, visit the Paley Center website. And remember - we're here for you if you need a shoulder.

Woot! If Liam were up to date on the series, we'd be there in a heart beat. But he hasn't seen the last half of the 5th and none of the 6th season.

Maybe I can force feed him all those episodes over the weekend. Big Grin
