from ITW via my publisher: "Congratulations! AFTERSHOCK & OTHERS by F. Paul Wilson has been nominated as a finalist in the Best Short Story category for the 2010 Thriller Awards."

Nice to hear on a rainy day. I didn't know it was even being considered.

I foresee additional accolades in your future, FPW. You deserve it.

Well-deserved congrats to you! I might be biased, but I thought AFTERSHOCK & OTHERS was one of the best short story collections I've ever read.

Most people don't realize how difficult it is to write a good short story. But most of us have been subjected to a lot of very bad ones.

Good luck, Paul - hope you win!

Visited the ITW to see who's in the running with ya, but the website doesn't have the 2010 nominees listed yet. From what I've seen on the site, your competition will be strictly thriller writers, so you've got the edge being a thriller/horror writer, IMHO.

Best of luck ta ya, Paul.

Great news! I love a good, tight short story and AFTERSHOCK fit the bill. Congratulations.
