Proof of what exactly?
That you can't find a job anywhere else?

I go where I get the best, most competent service, and that's Borders.
There's a B&N less than a block away, but I never go there because of the incompetence of the B&N employees.

But enjoy Borders while you can--they are going down for the count.
Quote:Here's the kind of guy Len Riggio is--Borders lost their bookstore in the World Trade Center on 9/11. Riggio called Borders' chief and said, "We'll hire your booksellers. They'll still have a job."Sounds like opportunism -- a way to get experienced employees.
I call that class. Big-time class.

As a parallel, the local Blockbuster had the rent raised quite high and it was not economical for them to continue in that location. So Blockbuster relocated all its employees at that store to other nearby stores. I expect Borders could have done the same.

Bluesman Mike Lindner Wrote:Right. New York City has just experienced a murderous attack, the toll not certain, but thousands dead, every commercial aircraft in the United States is grounded, the carriers John F. Kennedy and George Washington are heading north at war emergency speed, 343 FDNY men gave their lives for their city, there are F-16s in the air over Manhattan. And you say Riggio thought about hiring =experienced booksellers=?Ordinarily, I'd say GROW THE HELL UP, but I know that won't happen.
Why can't you just say the obvious?--Riggio did a good thing. "It's bad, but we'll get through. You men and women still got a job, you still got a paycheck coming to take care of your families. We got hit hard, but we'll make it."
