First I would like to say hello to everyone, I am a first time visitor to the site and have just started reading the Repairman Jack series. After reading the Tomb, I bought the other books in the series from a local used book store or online.

I am currently reading the third book Conspiracies and came across something I thought was rather odd, which is Repairman Jack's dislike for Anhesuer Busch products. He is offered a beer and states that he will take anything but an AB product. So my question is why wont Jack drink AB products?

Welcome to the board Happy.

To answer your question, Jack enjoys a brew with taste and prefers Yuengling I believe. Anheuser just doesn't cut it.

Actually, Jack won't drink AB because they "sold out" and became more interested in a bottom line than a quality brew.

You'll find mention that he used to enjoy Rolling Rock, but since it was purchased by a consortium, he won't drink it anymore.

Jack's a beer snob (he admits it), and he didn't like the way AB distributors tried to strong-arm competing smaller brews off the shelves a few years ago.

Thanks for everyone's replies. This answer makes the most sense to me.

Wow - it is surreal getting an anwser from "The Man" himself! Is this place cool or what?

You'll find none cooler, Happy. Well, maybe Nora Roberts site on occasion.

And, oh yeah--welcome!

Are your beer tastes similar to Jacks? I know Jack isnt a real person but I just wonder how much of you is in Jack?

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout
