First it was going to look like the top one. It's more accurate (since the body wasn't completely decomposed when they found it), but I thought it looked like someone is reaching for help and they're ignoring him.

So they made it a skeleton. Kind of garish, no?

January. Secret Circles follows in Feb. We're working up a teacher guide.

It's also technically more correct for it to be a skeleton hand.

Ok, I don't mean to be picky here, but, considering that it takes place in the pine barrens there don't seem to be many pines in that picture. Yes, I understand that there are other kinds of trees in the barrens, but couldn't there be even one on the cover?

The first cover looks like someone is asking to be given a hand up out of a hole. The second one gets the message across, instantly.

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout

The cover looks great! When it comes to the new paperbacks, I pretty much buy them based on the cover.

If I already have the limited and the trade hard covers, why would I bother buying the soft cover? If there is some sort of extra value to it, like a terrific new cover (Black Wind, Secret Histories, Emplorium), or a neat addition (Dat Tay Vao in The Touch), I'm in.Big Grin

I assume you're talking about the hardbound edition of Secret Circles.

Just last week I finally managed to get the book into the hands of someone who has the potential to order it for our school. She took it with her on vacation so I won't get to ask her about until August but I've got my fingers crossed. The fact that there is a possible teacher's guide certainly won't hurt.

Dig the cover, btw. Red always catches my eye.

Who's the target audience? 11-16 year-old guys?

The second, no two ways about it.
