I'm with you guys on that. I'm still trying to understand why Richard looked like he was wearing old (19th or even 18th century) clothing when we saw him and Ben meet. Or maybe that's my faulty memory. I don't even remember which season that was. But that would have taken place in the 1970s given what we know about Ben. Yet we've seen flashbacks of Richard from the 1950s and he was wearing modern clothing. In any event, I'd love to see some Others flashbacks.

Just watched a random old episode where Ben was telling Locke about the "Magic box" that gave you what you wished for and it gave him Lockes dad. Was wondering did anything ever come of this? Was it ever explained how Ben got Lockes father or was there really a "Magic Box"?

Now that you mention it...I remember that as well. Never thought much of the exchange...I thought Ben was just being difficult and cagey with his explanation of things/events.

I've never understood why people get so stuck on Ben's "magic box". He was using a metaphor IMO. In the Season 4 finale when they went to the Orchid and Locke asked Ben, "Is this the magic box?" Ben responded with an annoyed look and said "What? No, John, its not"

How was Cooper brought to the Island? Probably by the Others that leave the Island for the mainland...probably Tom or Richard. I don't think there is much to the "magic box" at all.

I'm with Sigokat on this. On the Lost website that I occasionally frequent, the question of the magic box is always coming up and I just don't get why people don't realise it's just a metaphor. It's like when Ben says (if memory serves, this is from the same episode as the 'magic box') that electricity to the island is supplied by a giant hamster running on a giant wheel - people don't fixate on the fact that there might be a massive rodent under their feet, so why get hung up on the magic box? In my opinion, it - and the hamster line, of course - was a throwaway comment to avoid telling Locke anything, in a way that Ben excells at.

(Mind you, if there turns out to be a magic box and a giant hamster in the finale, then feel free to point at and mock me!)

I could listen to Miles and Hurley talk about time travel for hours. Too funny.

Just so everyone knows...Juliet had a bad medical advisor. You can be hypoxic....lack of oxygen....but you can't have hypoxic shock. Hypoxia leads to respiratory arrest and then cardiac arrest. Ben was shot and bleeding, needing blood transfusions...hypovolemic shock is low blood volume...and does lead to cardiac arrest. Also moving someone that injured...away from supplemental oxygen and at least a plasma expander IV...would have Ben dead in minutes. He was shot in the right mid quad....probably nicked the liver or collapsed a lung. Tramping through the jungle like that...meh...not survivable...but that is the island... doing what it wants.

I wasn't a big fan of this episode. I loved the Hurley and Miles talks a lot too. But everybody seemed to be acting a little different then there characters usually do when it came to young ben. I also thought the part about how ben will remember none of this was a little bit of a cop out as to how he doesnt remember any of the losties. Next episode looks awesome though.

I can finally look at this thread! My son is in driving school every night for 3 weeks so we have to burn a DVD and wait until the weekends to watch it! I liked it. I cried when Kate left Aaron but it was the right thing to do. She sure is free about telling everyone the truth about them though. That may come back and burn them in the butt. Betcha Widmore gets wind of it.

And the time travel talk between Hurley and Miles gave me a huge headache!

As to the time travel conversation between Miles and Hurley, yes it was round and round. Point and counter-point, but Hurley made a winning point at the end about Ben being shot that had Miles stumped. I thought that was a great scene. Hurley at his best. But then we find out that Ben will not remember his time with Dharma, only with the Others. That's how Ben will come to kill all the people at the compound. He's become an Other. And it took Sayed to bring it about. You really have to admire the genius of the writers here. It all gets explained. And this time it didn't give me a headache.
