I didn't think that anyone except me had seen Let it Ride. It's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen...I wore out my VHS copy! I'm always looking for it on DVD, but it is hard to find up here in the GWN.

You are 100% on-the-money. Robbie Coltrain already has his Abe uniform on in that show.

You're not deranged at all. Wink

I just thought of another great actor for Abe. Maury Chaykin. Nero Wolfe. He'd be perfect. Has the range of serious to humorous. Great resume. (Dances w/ Wolves). He's 59 now but would be another perfect choice. His imdb page says he was born and grew up in Brooklyn so he'd probably be able to do the voice as well.

One of the best choices so far!

Wapitikev Wrote:He's creepy all right but I'd prefer Frank Langella over Doug...Frank was great (at being eeeevil) in the 9th Gate; he even played Draclua, back in '79.

I've also, always, loved to hate Iain Glen.

Since we won't see Rasalom until Conspiracies, perhaps we need a separate thread for him...I'm sure it would be a hit.

Of course I also love to hate George Clooney...

This thread seems to be popular on the Main Jack board lately so I am reviving it here. That way discussion (and perhaps enlightentment) can continue in the thread where it all started.

Heh. Hardly. We've been discussing this for YEARS......

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Ok, so I was exagerating for dramatic effect...but the newbies and the infrequent posters may not have know that...until you went and spilled the beans.

Now how are we supposed to guilt them into posting here about Who Should Be Abe, instead of on the What Race is Abe Thread (which is waaaaaaay off track if people are talking about actors playing Abe on it).

:dontknow:

Well I for one hope this post wins out over Abe's race thing. I remember a little while back FPW saying he was thinking about doing a book or books referencing the backround characters such as Abe,Julio etc. This can be brought out in a whole new string of books. Especially if you add the Ashe Brothers. If this is a bad idea,I'll stand in the corner and eat the corn of humiliation. Just make it Jersey silver queen lol........-mark

You could have something there...good suggestion Illunda. I'll have to mull that one over for a while.

:hello: Welcome, illundaztood!

A very interesting choice, there. I have no doubt Hoffman could handle the acting - he's so incredibly gifted. He'd need a lot of makeup and whatnot for the look, though. Hmmm....
