My first thought of "Cutting Edge" was that figure skating movie also. I hated that movie.

My suggestion: Forged

Since this missing blade is most likely an otherness charged weapon....what about............... Negativity (or whatever the Japanese word for this is.)

fpw Wrote:So far I’m calling the twelfth RJ novel CUTTING EDGE. It fits the story but I’m open to suggestions.

As usual, subplots abound, but the main storyline is this (no spoilers here since all this is laid out in the first 2 chapters):

Jack is hired to find a stolen samurai sword – a katana. The victim can’t go to he cops because the blade was stolen in 1955 from the Hiroshima Peace Museum. The blade is damaged, pocked with holes, but it was made by the renowned ancient swordsmith Masamune.

Turns out Jack’s not the only one looking for it. (Lots of blasts from the past in this one)

So...can anyone come up with something better than Cutting Edge? Since the katana is the plot's maguffin, the title must make some reference to a blade.

As with Lisa and Harbinbgers, you'll be credited in print for the title if I use it.
Is the blade righteous, evil, or ambivalent?

I agree that one word titles are the norm in the RJ series, so I think one word is the way to go.

Edged

Sliced

Seppuku (don't know if anyone offs himself, though)

Daito

Shoto (but I'm assuming it's not a short sword, so this wouldn't work)

Odachi

I was just about to suggest either Blade's Edge or Katana, but I've been beaten to the punch. Curse my brain for not functioning better in the mornings!

How many vikings does it take to change a light bulb?

None. The light from the burning monastery is more than sufficient.

May the Norse be with you.

Masamune's blades are considered the mark of an "internally peaceful and calm warrior," so I'd say righteous would be the best description.
