Weatherford Wrote:By the way, if we are going to vote on WHERE in England, I vote for CAMBRIDGE, somewhere in the Lake District or the Borders, Edinburgh, or Hay-On-Way (Wales - the whole town is a bookstore....) Wink

Lets face it London is the most obvious, however I would vote for the lake district (my very favorite place in the whole wide world)

Or how about Blackpool - that would be an experience!

I could go for that - but the Lake District would be top of the list....

Granted, the last two times I spent any time in London - well, one time, my best friend's parents were living around the corner from the palace.... the second time, my father treated me to a stay at the Ritz.... <sigh> so, I will admit I am spoiled....

Maybe we could get a special deal at the Ritz? You know, with a famous author in tow??

Also - Virgin Atlantic usually has VERY good fares this time of year - I just got a flyer from them for a $178 one way from EWR/JFK - granted that doesn't include all the extra fees - and you will have to swim back....

It is a good fare, however.

On advantage to staying OUT of London is things are cheaper elsewhere - and you can get the train into town...

Are you sure you want to do meet in England?

I suggest you all come here, to beautiful, sunny Kuwait. In September the temperature will be a pleasant 120-125 degrees F and the sun is always shining...except at night.

You can see native camels, native palm trees, and natives. Drive at break neck speeds because if you don't you will die and then slam on the brakes because the speed camera is coming up (there are signs posted approx 500m before the camera telling you there is a camera). Enjoy blasting wind and sand storms where the sand is blowing so fast and hard that it actually hurts and leaves marks on your skin. We can even take a trip into the desert and visit one of the numerous Bedouins camps and discuss RJ with them...come on it would be fun!! (I should work for a travel agent...I rock at this)

Anyone?

Anyone?

Sweetie & I plan to be in the UK for 2 weeks in September and would love to get together with any board members during our visit. The only limiting factor at this time is that we must depart the UK on Sept 26 (work, dontcha' know).

Wish List of Things to do:
Hadrian's Wall
Stonehenge
Dapol's Doctor Who Experience (Which closed, I learned today)
Abbey Road
Ride the "Ferry 'cross the Mersey" (if said ferry still exists)
Portmeirion
Bobbies on bicycles two by two, Westminster Abbey, The Town's Big Ben, Rosy Red cheeks of the little children
Ghost Walks (do cities in the UK have evening strolls through their haunted histories like some US cities do, we try to do this every where we go)
and Others

By the way, How are things in your town?

Late Sept is usually when I go to the US... but, who knows?!

Cpt K - I ran into some Kuwaiti's at the airport a couple months ago (one was a stewardess for Kuwait Airlines) and they all said they LOVE Americans for preventing their annexation back in 1990! The Stewardess said, "Please come visit, we love Americans and will take great care of you..." It really surprised me - not that it should, but, it was nice to hear...

Of course, we could always meet at the indoor ski slope in Dubai!! (no joke - they really have one!!)
