Oh, yeah. Congratulations on the 5000th thread. Now, is that the 5000th thread on the "modern" board, or does it include the archived board? Never mind, too complicated.

If it wasn't morning, maybe I would crack open my last bottle of wine.

My early wine-drinking days. I was going to high school in Frankfurt Germany and a BAD bottle of wine cost a mark. At that time, a mark was about forty cents. You took your pen from school and pushed the cork down into the bottle because you certainly weren't going to pour any of it into a glass (and who ever heard of a corkscrew, anyway) and you were going to share it with a friend. After awhile we graduated to better bottles of wine like Liebraumilch, and that cost four marks (or so). About a buck and a quarter.

Of course, the reason for the wine wasn't because you actually wanted wine. You were in pursuit of the infamous "doubling effect."

(Mike knows what I'm talking about).

In typical fashion, this thread has already evolved into a wine tasting thread. God forbid any of us actually stick to a topic! Big Grin

Oh yeah - congrats to everyone on 5000 threads

Now lets get political - that's where most of our threads end up!

Hilary Clinton - would you? discus Big Grin

Five thousand threads in just under three years! That seems pretty impressive to me.

I get a kick out of Neil Smith referring to Bill and Hillary as "Bladder-Nose, and The Thing With One Eyebrow."

Just don't end it.... that would quite simply suck.

This place is too much fun. The people are great, the discussions are fantastic. Where else can we all hang with our favorite writer and his entourage? Granted it is better in person and with beer, but we can't expect that all the time. Can we?

How about an eyebrow thread, would that be okay?

Hey, have you ever had your eyebrows threaded?

That's the latest craze in NYC. It's actually an ancient custom that comes from India or thereabouts. The ladies who run the threading salon across the street from me say it's a way of shaping eyebrows that their people have used for many centuries.

They take a long piece of string, sort of fold it in half, and use that as the means by which they pluck your eyebrows and shape them. They are quite dextrous with those long threads. It's painless and they do a great job. My eyebrows have never looked so good.

So...there you have it. An eyebrow thread. Big Grin

I recommend pleasant.

I just shaved about 1/2 of my right eyebrow off a few days ago. I run my beard trimmer over them every once in a while and for some reason my guard didn't work properly and lo and behold, I was left bald over my eye. It is pretty much back to normal now, but I did have to endure quite a few slings.

Not quite sure I believe the painless bit!
