Though it evidently isn't funny, I was making fun of us collectively for being so interested in a show that was impossible to explain to non-viewers in a way that made it sound like a reasonable show.

I thought that was funny and that is how I meant it, which is also why I included "we" in my comment. I was making fun of myself as well as anyone else, but as a joke, not intended to harm. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone.
If it makes you feel any better (and Maggers, this is not intended as a slight against you) I knew what you meant. When you weigh up the pros and cons, we seem to know absolutely nothing but we continue to watch anyway.

Maggers, a while ago on this thread you suggested that we compile a list of characters that are, in some way, connected. Not sure if anything came of that suggestion and, frankly, at this moment I'm too lazy to search (Big Grin ) but I thought it was a good idea.
Shall we pick a character and go from there?
I'll start with Sawyer.
He met Jack's dad in a bar in Australia.
He ran into Boone in a police station.
He walked past a car that had Jack's dad and Ana-Lucia inside it.
Thought there'd be more connections but my mind is blank right now.
Anyone care to step in?

Sawyer and his scam buddy (a male not the girlfriend) were served by Kate's mom in the diner where she works.

There may be more....

How about Kate:
She met up with Sawyer's scammed girlfriend

Well, that's not impressive. I can't come up with any more for Kate!

How about Charlie:
He met Desmond while he was playing his guitar in the street.

Damn, my brains got stuck again. I'll have to try this later. Gotta run.

I recommend pleasant.

I wouldn't say that we know ABSOLUTELY nothing. We know quite a bit, but far from everything. That's why we keep watching - in order to find out. I can't stand watching shows where I know what is going to happen before it actually does.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Did you notice the picture the Brother had on his desk when Desmond went to say goodbye? It's a picture of the Brother and a white-haired woman. She's the woman in the shop where Desmond went to buy a ring for Penny many episodes ago. The white-haired woman told Desmond about his future and it freaked him out.

Love those little links....

Yes, noticed the picture. Funny, from the way I saw it, both of them looked photoshopped (is that a word? ha) into the background of the picture though.

Is there any significance to the fact that Desmond says he's been on the island for 3 years and that's also how long Juliet says she's been there? Or is that just a coincidence?

I believe that's just coincidence. But, don't know if it's just me or not, the women who fell from the sky kind of looked like Ruth. And he saved Charlie again! When is he just going to let Charlie die! He knows he has too, but he still too afraid to let if happen. Hopefully that gets answered next week.

Oh! And I was right about it being Sawyer and Cate. I knew that was how it was going to be. Big Grin

Ruth? Who's Ruth?

American Idol had just ended, and Sanjaya was finally voted off. I switched to LOST, and when Desmond pulled the helmet off the skydiver, I yelled, "OMG, it's SANJAYA!" That skydiver looks like Sanjaya. My lord, we can't get away from him! I had friends call me afterwards and they were yelling the same thing.

I thought the skydiver looked like Alex! I know it wasn't, but it really looked like her at first.
