Buck is a great company! They build strong knives & stand behind their product.

After years of using & selling knives, I’ve come to realize that you really do get what you pay for. If you opt for something like a Gerber Paraframe, you’re getting a $25 knife that will be built to a $25 standard. That, or you could buy an super-neat tactical knife like the Buck Strider Solution that’s worth every penny of it’s $200+ price tag.

Most knife companies make low-end knives as well as high-end knives (some are VERY high end!) It’s all a matter of what you want to use the knife for & how much you’re willing to pay for it.

I love knives, be it Spyderco, Gerber, Buck, etc. A good knife is worth the money. But I've still yet to see any brand name go through the punishment that a Cold Steel blade goes through. Design is fine and can add to the intimadation factor, but looks can only go so far. BTW, I own at least one knife from all theses companys and many more, I don't have a problem with most of them. I do like how "Cold Steel" puts there knives to the limits in their field tests. It says alot.

Damn right, Law Dawg. I'd put it right up there with CITIZEN OF THE GALAXY. But we can't forget BETWEEN PLANETS or THE STAR BEAST or RED PLANET or... Did you know Rod was a black man? Little tidbit of info I gleaned from THE HEINLEIN COMPANION. Virginia Heinlein said that was RAH's intention, was curious to see who'd pick up on it. And I believe Chip Delaney was inspired to write sf after realizing Johnny Rico in STARSHIP TROOPERS was a man of color. Which brings to mind the Vonda McIntyre story. When she was little, she haunted her library for new Andre Norton books. She asked the librarian, "Will he have a new one out soon? I think he's the best!" The librarian gently clued her in. "Andre Norton is a =woman.= Yes she is! She's a librarian too, and she lives in Florida. If you'd like to write to her, I'm sure she'd be happy to hear from you." Little Vonda thought, "Girls can write science fiction too? So maybe...so maybe =I= can when I get bigger!" I find that so charming and wonderful.

Spyderco makes excellent knives. My current EDC is a Spyderco Manix. The blade is made with excellent CPM S30V steel and the back lock is basically nuke proof!
