For Jack? General Order #3: Let 'em die. Don't murder anyone, don't participate in murder. Just let him die.

As for Eko? I don't understand the deal with Eko. You build up a character and build up a character, then you kill him. Why? Why explain his entire back story if you're just going to kill him? Just to fill space in the schedule? Just to see if you can keep people watching? Or was the actor being a pain in the butt?

Heck, why not have some REAL fun? Let's just kill Locke off next week.

I take it that you're mad at the twists of fate for Eko here?

I don't care if Eko lives or dies. I just don't like it when they waste my time. If that's the point of the show, then I may as well stop watching it now.

Even though I'm mad/sad that Eko has been eliminated....I can't stop watching....I'm hooked!

I'm very sad to see Eko go, but he may not be gone forever. This is The Island, after all.

I like that this show is risky enough to kill off popular characters. Why not shake things up? Why not do the unexpected?

The entire backstory of Eko was all important in his demise. He is the character on LOST who is most sorry for his past. He is the character who has truly redeemed himself, from within, and his actions prove it. He is also the only character actually killed by The Island. Everyone else who was killed was done in my human hands, either the Others, Ana Lucia, Michael or gravity (in the case of Boone). Eko was given the honor of being the first fatal victim of the spooky and oddly noisy black smoke.

I love LOST. I'm hooked. I love that it doesn't follow any rules and there's no way to figure out what's going to happen next. This show takes me to places I've never been. Huzzah for that!

The final memory of Eko so happy with his little brother touched me. Rest in peace, Mr. Eko.

I recommend pleasant.

What about the pilot from the first episode? I guess we don't really know what killed him since we never saw it. But I was assuming it was the black smoke.

I am also sad that Eko died but as long as there are other interesting characters to fill the void them I'm OK with it.

I stand corrected. Duh, I'd forgotten about that poor pilot. I watched that episode again and his death certainly was shocking and the first mystery death caused by The Island.

They've killed off pretty much everybody from the other side of the island. Everybody with a speaking part anyways. If I was Bernard I woudn't be making any long term plans. What doesn't make sense is having Eko survive the fireball from the dynamite while trying to open the hatch, then surviving the actual hatch Megaexplosion then survive being dragged off by the polar bear, only to be killed by the black smoke.

I like how anybody can be killed at any time. They can create a new character whenever they want. There's twenty people on the island that we've never seen. Like the new babe with the hot bod. I know I would have noticed her walking around in the background. You never know with this show. Season one there was a character named Arzt played by veteran actor Daniel Roebuck. He showed up a couple of episodes before the season finale and had a hilarious death scene that did nothing to advance the plot. I thought he would be hanging around for a while as comic relief but he didn't make it either.

I've been watching Season One again. What a terrifc show that I can see it again and again and it's still rich.

I've come to realize something in watching large blocks at a time. The ocean is a character in its own right. It's different in each scene, gloriously beautiful, awe inspiring and scary. I think I'd go crazy if I lived on an island like that, with the absolute vastness of the ocean staring me in the face everyday.

So sad... EKO!! Well, I felt like it was his decision that the island killed him. Even more interesting is how the surgery will playout next week.
