Bluesman Mike Lindner Wrote:Biggles...Biggles...Biggles...Oswald was the perp. C'mon...let's get serious here. Is there any doubt Oswald had a rifle in the TBD? Is there any doubt it was fired? Is there any doubt Oswald was a former Marine, or that =every= Marine is a rifleman first, down from the Commandant to the newest graduate of Camp Lejune? What you're saying is that only 2 of 3 marksmen charged with killing the President of the United States in broad daylight earned their pay? Please. ('Though it's true you can't hire good help anymore. .)
Biggles Wrote:Oswald's supposed feat has been attempted, but never duplicated. The Warren Commission even concocted a "magic bullet" and voodoo acoustics to support their theory. The Zapruder tape (clearly showing impacts from the front and back both) and the FACT that 4, not 3, shots were fired confirms that at least 2 gunmen were involved. You MUST be shittin' me, right? I knew the Warren Commission report was BS from the time I first saw it (I was what, 10?). Having investigated, prosecuted and defended murder cases since, I can't imagine any experienced homicide investigator buying the government's cover-up. Next you'll tell me Vince Foster committed suicide and Ron Brown died in the plane crash. Oh, and Marilyn wasn't murdered. Yeah, right.
Biggles Wrote:To a great extent, those parameters are mutually exclusive. GI .45 ACP ball ammo has nominal ballistics of 230 grains at 835fps from a full-sized M1911. If you go with a full-sized frame, the stopping power of a .45 ACP is substantial, but from a short barrel the ballistics are badly degraded. The Glocks have polygonal rifling that enhances MV by maybe 50 fps or so, and you can go with CorBon loads that are a bit "warm". If you insist on using a small carry gun in .45ACP, I recommend three things:Well explained Biggles. Thanks.
1. Go with Glock
2. Use CorBon ammo
3. Go with the 185 grain hollowpoints for higher velocity and better expansion.
Finally, to really enhance stopping power, buy a drop-in barrel for your Glock .45 and stoke it with .400 Corbon ammo. This round was derived from .45ACP necked down to .400 calibre. I have a .400 CorBon barrel for my Glock 21 .45ACP, and it's SWEET! I suspect that its street stopping power should readily exceed that of the .357 Mag.

My favorite round has always been the .357, although the .40 is a close second. I have just recently started shooting the .45 (no agency I have ever worked for issued .45 so my exposure to it is limited). I am gaining more appreciation for it every day.
