rjack_fan Wrote:I just picked up an excellent hardcover copy of The Touch on e-bay, but it is shrink wrapped. My question is, would it be better to keep it wrapped and preserve the condition, or should I open it to see what I actually have? It is published by Putnam.
Any thoughts? I'm new to the whole collecting thing, so I'm still working through some of the details.

rjack_fan Wrote:Thanks, Biggles. I really just want to know if I have a first edition or not. If anyone has some advice on things I can look for on the outside, I would appreciate any suggestions. There is not a barcode on the back, though there is one in the shrink wrap, and there is a number on the bottom right back corner. I'm not sure how long I can stand to wait - the temptation to peak is almost too much!

I don't know if the bce would be the same.
If you need to, open it up and check for the number line, 12345678910. That will prove it a First Edition.
I have no idea if the shrink wrap is factory, or if it says anything about the Edition.
