Tokorozawa is very big city. Around the station is very crowded place, but if you walk away from station, almost nature. River, field, and lake(name is Tama Lake)....very beautiful place. Perhaps you will like the place. Smile

Ju-on, Ring 2, Uzumaki.....only horror movies? Don't you know comedy or action movies?

Yeah, I'm just listing horror films because of the theme of this thread, and because they're my favourite of all genres. I love comedies and action movies, but haven't seen many good comedies recently (since SOUTH PARK THE MOVIE). With THE MATRIX trilogy and similar films, I wonder how far action can go. It's gone to superhero extremes, but it's only thrilling if it looks dangerous, or it's suspenseful for the characters. Most American stuff, it's not thrilling because it's CGI and it's not suspenseful because they rarely kill off the stars.

Again, I find action films from the East, more inventive, skilled and better looking. I'm looking forward to watching AZUMI, SHIRI, SO CLOSE, and THE RETURNER.

Also can't wait to see the second GHOST IN THE SHELL movie INNOCENCE and the second STAND ALONE COMPLEX TV series. The first should be out on DVD in the US soon. It certainly needs good subtitles, to follow the intricate plotting, sorely lacking on the Hong Kong discs of the first series that i watched.

Not a movie, but I just bought the game Fatal Frame for the PS2 after playing part of Fatal Frame II at a friend's house. It is a VERY creepy japanese horror game. Excellent atmosphere, sound, and graphics and also very good gameplay and plot so far. Check it out!

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

I agree your opinion, Pygar. Smile

A little while ago, I saw Starship Troopers2 in theater. I just came back to home, and now I'm here. IMHO, ST2 was Bored. This is worst than first one.
Cause of CGI? or character?.....No, it's not. I don't know why, but absolutely this is crap.

Marc B. Wrote:For foreign film I would go with Ju-On: The Grudge. For domestic I would have to say the American remake of The Ring. I can't think of any other really good American horror in recent memory. Haven't seen Chronos yet but it's on my list to check out at some point.

I have been trying to get the 3 Ju-On movies. Everything that I've seen on it says that Ju-On: The Curse was better than Ju-On: The Grudge. Have you seen the other 2? I'm going to go ahead and order them off of Ebay.

As far as the best horror movies, here are the ones that I like: (I own more horror movies than any other kind of movie.)

The Changeling
The Eye (Jian Gui)
The Exorcist
The Others
The Uninvited
The Ring
Jeeper's Creepers (Most people don't agree, but I think the movie is really tense)

I love scary ghost movies. They are my favorites. However, they are also the ones that are usually hard to find and poorly made.

I actually thought the first 45 minutes or so of Jeepers Creepers was really good, then it just got really silly. If you could take the first 45 minutes alone this would difinately rate as a top horror movie.

I loved Jeepers Creepers up until the end. That ending totally sucked! What a let-down to an otherwise very scary, atmospheric movie. Is JC 2 any good?

Here is my collection sorted by genre. (and also a little plug for Guzzlefish - good way to organize your DVDs for free)

As far as I know there are four Ju-On DVD's out. Ju-On: The Curse (1 & 2) which were the direct-to-video movies. The first 30 - 40 minutes of the second one is rehash of the first movie (exact same footage). Then came the two theatrical movies, Ju-On: The Grudge which is sort of a retelling of the original series but with a bigger budget.

I picked up the direct-to-video DVD's on Ebay and got the movies from Poker Industries (http://www.pokerindustries.com).

You mentioned The Changeling as one of your favorites. It is a damn creepy movie. Probably one of the best haunted house movies ever.

You're right. Once the monster is actually revealed, it starts being stupid. However, the first 45 minutes are really great. It had great suspense.
