All three are in NW, but they get out of dodge pretty quickly.

I did notice Paul didn't include Vicky's new brother/sister...

Dave

PS I originally wrote sister, without even thinking it odd. Shall we have a pool about the sex and weight of the new arrival? Smile

Well, Night World does have to be updated . . .

Also, go back to Gia's problem at the beginning of Crisscross, and speculate, "If this goes on . . . "

Didn't Maggers say something about how good it was to have a short memory, because you can read a book more than once, and it all seems new again? She was right you know. Wink

Duh!!! Yes, I do remember that, now. I didn't remember if it was from Nightworld, though. Thanks for the reminder. It's probably been 7-8 years since I have read them. :o

And, no, I don't remember the beginning of Criss Cross. I haven't read that one yet. Big Grin

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

Just in the interest of clarification, I was referring to Paul's post, rather than the contents of Nightworld itself.

But yes, an ill wind is blowing that way, and long may it chill the bones.

PS I'm going for a girl, 7lbs 8oz. Typically average Smile

This is just my sick imagination, infected by Bravo's recent 100 scariest movie moments special, but I think the baby might be born as a monster and kill everyone in the delivery room except Gia and Jack, if he's there. Then Jack will have to hunt it down and kill it. Eventually as he pursues it he'll find out it's not his kid but that Rasalom raped and impregnated Gia some time shortly after Conspiracies.

Remember Jack sensing someone above him at the end of Conspiracies. Jack looks up but doesn't see anything. Rasalom follows him from above for a few days, learns his secrets, and as punishment for his transgressions gives him and his lady a nasty surprise. He does the Jedi mind trick on Gia so she can't tell anyone what happened or even remember it. That would also explain Gia's recent problems. Allied forces are trying to stop the beasty from being born. I do sense the otherness isn't behind Gia's problems.

Of course it probably won't happen that way but it sure sounds cool.

I implore you: there are minor spoilers in here for books ranging from The Tomb through Hosts to Gateways and NightWorld. So press on at your own risk!

This may sound a tiny bit redundant, but Kusum was Jack's client, and I'm quite sure of his demise. By default, Kolabati was also Jack's client, after all, and that demise is equally well documented. Nobody mentioned the real target of the hit in CrissCross--the Nun.

I wonder how many tertiary RJ clients bite it in NightWorld and we don't have a clue about them? Probably lots.

As for your idea of making no one sacred or safe, FPW, I do give you kudos. I practically bawled when Anya was taken. I was, and am, rather fond of her. I did bawl when you offed Kate (although I understand that you had to do that), and not just because we share names. She was a great character, and lent a lot of backstory-by-character to Jack. I imagine this death hit him as hard as his mother's did--even if he was better prepared to deal with this due to maturity.

And back to your regularly programmed bandwidth...

This is rich! I love being referenced on a thread that I'm not reading and haven't participated in because of all the spoiler alerts. I haven't read "CrissCross" yet.

But somehow I managed to spy my name. How'd I do that and still not read anything else? Big Grin

Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

I'm also skimming. . . . trying not to learn too much, but it's so hard to resist! I won't remember any of it after finals anyway. . . . . so, it CAN'T be a girl! Boys rock, Vicki needs a little brother and Jack needs a son. He's already got Vicki, no need for another girl. (Not that I don't like girls, but boys are so fun!)

You've got quite a lot of ideas there, all of which seem plausible, though terrible in terms of their consequences for Jack.

I started thinking of a whole "Omen" theme there, with the unmentionable one planting his seed in Gia.

BTW, I, for one, don't mention the "R" word on this board. If you say his real name, you summon him.

Hi FPW,

Just finished Criss Cross and enjoyed greatly enjoyed it. The Dementalist aspect was fascinating, especially since a similar group exists in the real world. It got me thinking of the episode of Millenium where Jose Chung (portrayed by Charles Nelson Reilly) was investigating the Selfology cult. I read that that real world group pressured Fox and the production company to make changes to the script. Did you experience anything like this with Criss Cross or did you slip in under their thetans?

In any case, well done. Looking forward to the next novel.

Alan

Another Millenium fan? That was an awesome series! Lance Henriksen is a great actor.

I really like Jamie the reporter for "The Light" :p I usually don't care too often when someone gets whacked, but I really grew fond of that stubby finger. Is this the first book where one of Jack's clients dies, other than his sister?

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Big Grin
