bkwormonthenet Wrote:I really love the movie The Natural. It contains what, for me, might be the best direction shot on film. In the final sequence at the ball park, with the sparks falling from the lights, an amazed Pop Fisher looks out into the field from the dugout, and you see the sparks reflected in his glasses as they fall to the ground, and darkness begins to cover the stadium. Combined with the music and the emotion this scene creates, this is an image I cannot forget.

Sean

I know exactly what you meen. That has got to be one of the best scenes in cinematic history!

Ghostbusters
"Alright boys... let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown..."

"That's a big twinkie."

"Fire and brimstone falling down from the sky!" "Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, plagues!" "The dead rising from their graves!" "Dogs and cats, living together... MASS HYSTERIA!"

and all others mentioned in this thread.

Die Hard
"Happy trails, Hans..."

"Now I have a maching gun. HO-HO-HO!"

RoboCop
"Can you fly, bobby?"

Blue Velvet
The In Dreams lip synching. Spoooooky.

Big Trouble in Little China
The final confrontation between Jack and Lo Pan's men.

Escape From New York
Snake's gladiator-esque bout.

"I heard you was dead..."

John Carpenter's The Thing
"Yeah, well fuck you too!"

They Live
"I came here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum."

A Nightmare of Elm Street
Tina's gruesome demise.

Creepshow
The Crate's monster revelation

Heathers
The lighting of a cigarette via explosives. Niiice.

Aliens
"GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!"

The Breakfast Club
Every scene with Judd Nelson. That guy's fuckin harsh!

And there are so many others. Whoever said the 80s were a bad decade for film were way, waaay off, imo.

Star Trek II: The Search for Spock, the final confrontation between Kirk and Kruge. Kruge is hanging on for his life and Kirk, really truly dearly not wanting to, forces himself to do the Good Guy thing and reach his hand out to save him. And when Kruge tries to pull Kirk over with him, Kirk snaps! "I. . .have had. . .enough. . .of YOU!" A beautiful and under-appreciated moment for Shatner.

Amen, brother. Shatner's had some brilliant scenes. Remember in the Original Trek, TOMORROW IS YESTERDAY? Where Kirk explains to Captain Christopher why the bold F-104 pilot =can't= go back. Man, that was fine acting. To my mind, anyway. Awright, Saglaser--you call yourself a Trekker man? In which episode did Bones say, "Damn you, Spock--I'm not beaming up without Jim!"

Gee, Mike, wouldn't that be just about every episode? Or was it that Bones was just always saying "Damn you, Spock?" Big Grin

Years ago my mother used to say to me... "In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

Actually, Maggers, I made that up. Kinda "Quick, Watson, the needle," style. Never happened, but it =sounds= like it could have.

Actually, Star Trek II was Wrath of Khan.
Search for Spock was Star Trek III.

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. ... The piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

And, another great moment was....

When David Marcus(Kirk's son) was killed by Klingon, after the moment, Savick said, "Captain, David is dead". Then, Kirk stunned, slowly fell down.
Kirk screamed, "Klingon's....bastard!!!".

That was memorable moments in this movie.
