Today, I went to rental video store, and I found one horror movie. The title is "The Haunted". I read introduction. The way I see it, it's like a vampire movie. I thought "Hmm, sounds good". Then I saw staff. Written by Tony Mandile and F.Paul Wilson.

I thought "What? F.Paul Wilson? I've never heard about The Haunted in his books! Did I miss info...? Or is it his original? Wait a minute, is this Midnight Mass? But title is The Haunted, it's written by English on package. "

Anyway, I rented this video...

Opening scene is TV news films...Oh? I saw Paul in TV news scene! And, movie's title......MIDNIGHT MASS. Oh! Gosh! The Haunted was Japanese title!

I read about Midnight Mass movie on this board. Almost people said one word, "Worst". Well, I think everybody read Midnight Mass, then saw the movie. I don't read Midnight Mass yet, so I can't compare book and movie.

But I understood one thing. Actors and actress were pretty bad.

Interesting that it is titled The Haunted in Japan.

This movie was pretty bad. Still, I will give credit to the individual for trying to make this low-budget film. Unfortunately I saw it before I had met Paul, so I didn't recognize him. I have debated renting it again just to see him as the news anchor, but don't know if I could watch it again. Big Grin

Cool cover, though.

Perhaps Scott Hajek can post the US DVD cover. I did not look like the Japanese cover. I think Scott also has the International version.....

Scott?

Kenji,

The best thing about the movie was Paul's acting. I think he showed significant talent. Big Grin Anyway, don't let the movie turn you off from the book. The book was great. So were the Novellas on which it was based.

Jim,

Paul wasn't really a news anchor (the news anchors were really bad too). He was actually an expert who was being interviewed on TV. It's early in the movie, so you don't have to sit through much of it. Again, I thought Paul was quite good, and I recognized him even though I hadn't met him in person. You might recall that I had him autograph my Canadian DVD edition at GU-3. Eh? (Sorry, I just had to add eh, eh?)

Oh, was it you that had both copies? I was thinking it was Scott.

Scott had the US edition. I got mine off eBay, and didn't realize it was the Canadian release until someone (maybe Paul) mentioned it at GU-3. Not that it matters, eh?

Oh, Canada! What would we do without their greatest exports:
1. hockey, 2. Rush, 3. BTO, 4. Guess Who, 5. Triumph.

Of course, they also sent us Peter Jennings. Smile Somehow I have an easier time tolerating anti-American anchors who are US citizens than those who come here to seek fame and fortune, then stab us in the back. But I digress.
