And she would totally work. Once Nathan Fillion is signed to play Jack she'll be the perfect choice. She and Nathan have already worked together in a romantic capacity on the Firefly TV show and the Serenity movie and they have great chemistry together.
The RJ movie then gets an immediate boost as the Whedonites will flock to anything with Mal and Inara in it. Beacon will jump at the chance to have two rabid built in audiences.
I can't believe I hadn't thought of it before but while reading Gateways the other night I thought of Fillion as Jack and he's stayed there since. Absolutely perfect for the role.
For Gia? None other than Elizabeth Banks:

Ironically, she was Nathan Fillion's co-star in Slither.
It's fate I tell you.
Cthulhu for President!
Why vote for a lesser evil? I can think of none better than the
great old one, who should return from his slumber to take over the U.S. government and make this country a whole hell of a lot better as the leader of our executive branch. Or destroy it and drive everyone insane, kill us all, or something really nasty! Remember,
Cthulhu for President, why vote for the lesser of two evils?
