Maggers Wrote:Just curious about this. The artwork on the cover shows blond, curly haired Peter LaNague crouching before a wall with a smoking rifle/blaster in front of him. The hairdo bears no resemblance, but from the expression on the character's face, the way he is holding his hands and the look of his forearms, I could swear that FPW was the model for this picture. Every time I looked at the cover I kept flashing back to Orlando and Paul at the GU 4. Am I crazy or what?

You're not the first to mention this. When you realize that I used to wear my hair longer in the 70s and that it gets very wavy in humidity, it seems likely that he got hold of some old convention photos of yt to use as reference.

Can't remember the artist. Ron Walotsky? Walter Velez?

Maggers Wrote:I wound up with a paperback version of "Enemy of the State," which I just finished. I enjoyed it. Can't say it's high up on my list of favorite FPW works. There are so many that I liked more, but I did like it alot. In reading EOTS, I learned more about politics and economics than I ever learned in school.

Isn't that Lisa's favorite cover?

Is this the same "Enemy of the State" that the movie starring Will Smith is from? I haven't seen the movie or read the book so I'm curious.

No, way different. FPW's EOTS is a sci-fi adventure on the surface, but so much more than that.

For the record, I also really enjoyed Will Smith's "Enemy of the State," which is a mistaken identity, spy thriller, who's-got-the-computer-disc, super chase kinda movie.

Well, for years I was smart.
I recommend pleasant.

Maggers Wrote:Late in October I ordered a hardcover version of ENEMY OF THE STATE, along with several other FPW books, from amazon.com. The rest arrived, and I was told that EOTS would be shipped at a later date. Yesterday I received an email from amazon.com saying that they couldn't obtain the book and they canceled my order.

I was searching amazon.com last night and found "An Enemy of the State" again in hard cover, with art work that looks just like cover for "Healer" that I got a couple of years ago.

This is the same book I tried and failed to receive from amazon last fall. We'll see what happens this time. I ordered it again.

Mr. Smith wishes he could be apart of something that seems like a sci-fi adventure but is so very much more.

His Enemy of the State with Gene Hackman was so very dulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

This is my favorite FPW book alongside the original writing for The Tomb
