Hi folks,
new member here (obviously)

looks like a slow forum, if this is the first new post thread in 2014??

i was just wondering what you guys thought of the character Weezy

she had so much potential, so much time spent study the Compendium of Srem, only to achieve nothing.

@ 'the man' fpw - i had emailed you and was very pleased to receive your reply, thanks!
so i guess there is no need for another reply from you here on the same subject, cheers

Hello Phoenix!

Yeah, things here have died down considerably. Back in the day it was the spot by which Paul communicated with his fans. Now, with the advent of social media, he spends more time interacting on Facebook and Twitter.

I loved the character of Weezy. I wouldn't say her role was a waste. She was able to provide Jack with so much assistance, information, and friendship. Sometimes her involvement did come across a bit Deus Ex Machina, but she was a very likeable and troubled character.

When you think about it, the whole "Spear has no branches" thing, really wiped out anyone who had any closeness with Jack, so her fate is no different than any of his other family/friends who paid the ultimate price in pruning Jack to be the heir.

I think some of Paul's best characters have been flawed. Whether it is the depression that seems to have plagued Weezy in the RJ novels, or the conflicted criminal with a heart that was Poppy in "Deep as the Marrow", there is something to be said for these types of characters.

I enjoyed the character Weezy. She had many trials in life and endured them well.

Weezy started as a simple foil for Jack in the teen trilogy. Trouble was, I fell in love with her. She tried to take over Secret Histories to the point where I had to banish her to Baltimore for the end of the book. When the teen books were done, I couldn't let her go. I kept wondering how her bipolar disorder would affect her into adulthood. I discovered Ground Zero was the perfect place to bring her back.

I fell in love with her too. She is damaged like all of us but perseveres, a real inspiration.
