Sometimes, IMO, the co-author is much better than the famous author. Once I got into a popular author because of a novel I read and very eagerly got more books but didn't like any of them, and I had a hard time believing he wrote the novel I loved as the style was different. But one day I came across an older edition of the book I loved and unlike the newer edition it had 2 authors named on them (and as I read it again I know it was the same). I won't say the author's name as he does horror and I'm certain one or more here would get offended but I think he screwed that co-author...and that it was the co-author with the talent but not the connections or ability to play people as the one who became famous for it (and then reprinted the old book with his name alone on the cover).

Tom Clancy has been doing this for years, his name on books not written by him. The few I tried were crap.
