Really good film. Not on par with the second, but close, I came away satisfied with the conclusion to the trilogy.
More epic in scope than the first or second films, it truly blows the socks off at times. The performances are all terrific, from the reliable Bale and Caine to the new guys Hathaway and Gordon-Levitt. And the denouement is very well done, you'll laugh, you'll cry. Maybe.
It didn't quite take you through the rollercoaster of emotions the second film did, the plot isn't anywhere near as complex, and the bad guy (Hardy as Bane) was a very different beast, much more physical, not so much into the mind games. Heath Ledger's performance in the second film would always have been a tough one to top, so they didn't even try, going in a different direction completely, becoming almost like a war film.
Well worth seeing on the IMAX if you have one near by. If you liked the others, you gotta see this.

I am seeing this on Friday, I am quite stoked to see it. I didn't want to brave the crowds to see it, the line at the IMAX has been consistently wrapped around the block.
So, I took off on Friday and will go to see it at a matinee when the theatre wont be nearly as packed. I hate crowds.
I am glad to hear that it is different in style, I don't even mind Bane's voice as some people do. I guess they wanted him to sound like a growling oaf. I guess hulking figures can't enunciate or have an accent. I think Tom Hardy just wanted to create a pardox between brute force and logic in one character.

I saw it a few days ago. I thought it was actually the best of the three. Hardy was incredible as Bane, and I would hope he'd at least be considered for an Oscar. Mythic, epic film. I think Nolan made some underlying comments on our economic meltdown of a few years ago, by having Bane attack the Stock Market, having Wayne lose his fortune, having Batman be defeated and put in a hellish prison and have him recover, break out and (ahem) Rise to the ocassion. Maybe saying perservere, America, perservere, World? Maybe I just read too much into that but without a question, wonderful film. Wonderful trilogy. Best "superhero" film I've ever seen.
Someone on Facebook was posting some essay that compares Bane to the Occupy protestors. I kind of snorted since the person who posted it is a fan of the Occupy Protestors. I don't think he realizes that the analogy the essay makes can be stretched to say that the Occupy protestors are criminal thugs who don't give a rat's ass for human life.

Last night I saw this on IMAX. Japanese title is "Dark Knight Rising".
Oh......my.......gosh! This is greatest movie since The Dark Knight. I really REALLY love it! Christopher Nolan did excellent works. We have to say thanks to him. He knows how to make great movies. As Dave618 said, I'll also say this is Best "superhero" film I've ever seen. But I still haven't seen The Avengers. So I don't know yet.

I thought it was an excellent movie. Not as strong as The Dark Knight but that was probably due more to Heath Ledger's Joker than anything else. Nolan does a great job of bringing a comic into the real world and mixing in the off the wall comic book ideas and gadgets. All in all it's worth seeing at least twice lol

I could have done without the added "bonus" of the Joseph Godon Levitt reveal, seemed too forced for my taste, but other than that, it was a damn satisfying end to an epic trilogy.
Like others have said, there is no topping The Dark Knight, but this film comes close. I recently watched Batman Begins again after having not seen that in years and I was kind of shocked at how different all three films feel compared to each other.
It seems Nolan was fine with injecting some humor into the script this time, specifically Batman's response to Catwoman disappearing on him as he turned his back for half a second.

Wow, I guess I am the only one who thinks this one was the best of the three. It just seemed more ... epic ... I guess. The stakes were higher, Wayne's own personal struggles finally coming to some resolution, and I admittedly thought Tom Hardy was at least as good as Ledger if not better. Who would have thought to add that refined, English voice to that hulking brute?
Either way, all three films were about as good as you could expect. Nolan lifted the bar. I know Batman will inevitably be rebooted, I just wonder where can they go from here? Seems a shame that Hollywood has to always be churning out the product. It would be a classy move if Warner Bros. just left the franchise alone for 10, fifteen years, but the odds of that happening are nil.
