I watched this on DVD last night finally. I actually really enjoyed it. If you are willing to suspend your disbelief it makes for a fun movie. I liked how they had incorporated the vampires into the Confederate Army at the battle of Gettysburg as well.
I've never read the book, but I've heard they changed quite a bit, like vampires being able to kill each other, but even in the movie while they didn't "kill" each other, they were able to fight each other.
The only things I thought were bad were some of the special effects, namely the chase during the horse stampede was very obviously CGI.
Also, its hard for me to see the actor who played Mr. Speed as anyone other than one of the McBoyle brothers from Its Always Sunny.
Overall, good movie with only a few minor complaints.
