Anyone watching this? I've only watched the two hour premiere and it was so-so. I'll hold ultimate judgement until I've seen a few more episodes. It's shot like a documentary in the jungle, so there's a bit of shakey-cam action. That results in never really seeing whatever it is that's chasing the characters. A son and mom are looking for dad. They're accompanied by a film crew. The dad went missing because he was looking for the magic in the world. It looks as though each episode will deal with some new form of supernatural horror. There were some pretty creepy moments. Such as this:

Yeah... so-so for me too. It's hard to do horror on television what with the commercial breaks and all. Every time tension starts an ad for viagra starts. Kind of annoying.

The River = LOST in the jungle.

I'm not feeling it.

I disagree with that assessment. Lost was more mystery whereas The River is going for horror. In Lost the survivors didn't know where they were and were trying to be rescued. The River the people went into the jungles on their own in search of a missing man. I really don't think there is anything similar between the two.

I really want(ed) to like this series. It really hasn't hooked me yet. It hasn't completely turned me off yet either but I agree on the so-so assessment. I am not sure how they can sustain the plot and keep me interested in a serial format. I hope they can but the first three episodes (2 in premier and the latest) have left me underwhelmed. And I was cheering for Oren Peli because he seems to get what makes for a scary movie without crossing into gore/torture-porn.

That's too bad. I had forgotten that it was starting, but this reminds me that I saw some ad for it. I think I'll pass on trying it out.

Why do I always do this to myself???

Ok Marc, we're all entitled to our opinions. Smile I'm just not crazy about it. That may change....I'll give it a try still. I'm maybe expecting too much too quickly I guess.

TMA has is right, under whelmed thus far. But I'll give the show another few installments to win me over. As they say, we'll see.

Well, this season only has 8 episodes so if you make it to 4 might as well give it the full run. :p
