Hey guys,

I have a question about Gauntlet Slipcases. I recently sold my copy of "The Haunted Air" limited Gauntlet edition on eBay.

They buyer contacted me today to express concern that the slipcase that I shipped with the book is not the "official" slipcase, which is a bit concerning because it came from Gauntlet when I purchased the book.

He states that the slipcases were typically a glossy black finish, the one that came shipped with my copy was a matte finish, slightly lighter than deep black.

I don't have a picture to compare slipcases and it is the only Gauntlet edition I purchased that came with a slipcase (Gateways was supposed to but they shipped it sans case). I want to make sure the buyer is satisfied, but I don't know what to tell him about the slipcase as it is the "official" case shipped by Gauntlet. Any ideas what he might be talking about?

Thanks for your help!

You could contact Gauntlet directly to see if they can send a confirmation email that some cases were like yours. They likely don't have records of who got what case, but they would probably know if there were a glossy and a matte case.

If you got it from Gauntlet then it's the official one. But if there is any doubt then definitely contact Gauntlet.

I definitely got it from Gauntlet, I would have no idea where else to get a slipcase. LOL

The buyer also says the case was damaged in the upper right corner. It was fine when I shipped it so I am not sure what he means by "damage" unless UPS dinged it up. They shipped it in a bubble wrapped envelope. I am not sure what my responsibility is if the product arrived damaged?

Just ask Barry, he's always been helpful when answering questions I have about Paul's and Richard Matheson's limited editions.

So I emailed Gauntlet and they wrote back stating they only have ever used 1 type of slipcase. I used the word "Matte" to describe it to him but I don't think that is correct. I used it as the opposite of glossy. Bottom line, I am not sure how the slipcase that I got from Gauntlet looks different from other cases they have used as I don't have any others to compare it to.

Does anyone have a picture of the slipcases that came on their limited editions? I am curious as to how the one that was shipped with my book is different.

Here's the only slipcase I have. It's for Conspiracies and I have no idea if it's official. I got it off eBay. The book WITH the slipcase that is.

That looks way different than the one that came with The Haunted Air. Now I am even more confused. LOL
