I got that as well. It looks like it may take a more serious, maybe a little darker path to tell the story than Raimi's version, which at times bordered on camp even in the first movie.

Agreed. I hope the story centres on his parents fate more than the angst of being a superhero, and please leave the wrestling alone, if they must have uncle ben die, let it be something more fundamental than a mugging (which although true to the comic was always a bit lame IMO).

The first person swing-fest has a few people moaning on other forums, but I reckon this is a trailer special only, I couldn't see it fitting into the actual movie.

I am with you, I hated the focusing on the whiney, can't get the girl, poor Peter. What I liked most in the comics was the college age, working his butt off to survive, science geek superhero Peter. So much more to work with around that time in the story.

I am giving the CGI and the first person swing thing a pass right now given they are still filming and the trailer probably far from the finished product. I hope I am not disappointed.

I agree, the more I rewatch those movies, well 1 and 2, I see more and more campiness in them. I still like 1 quite a bit, but 2 slides a little lower with each viewing.

As for the web shooters, when I was a kid I always assumed they were organic, I mean to me that seems to be one of the natural powers you'd get if you were bitten by a radioactive spider. I was actually disappointed when discovering he invented them. I think though the reason they make it organic in movies, is because it is difficult to convey super smarts as cool. Look at the Fantastic Four movies when Doom and Mr. Fantastic are spouting science facts to each other about super-heating and super-cooling. I think most people would rather see Batman go beat the info out of some thug or use some hitech surveillance device than sit in the cave and deduce from the clues he has amassed what the crooks master plan will be.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

Hopefully test audiences will complain enough that they trim it down from "big" to "small".
