Meh, I always preferred Picard, mostly because Patrick Steward is made of awesome.
Patrick Stewart is the better actor and his Picard isn't that bad. I do enjoy TNG, just liked the list.

Both are fine actors. Shatner's a ham? You can only do what the writers write for you. See THE ANDERSON TRIALS. Shatner was nominated for an Emmy for his work there.
Acting aside, I think I'd have better adventures with Jim Kirk.
