You can't go wrong with a Lansdale book, one of our last remaining secret treasures. I've read maybe 10 or so and they
have all been good.

I started re-reading Jurassic Park last night. I haven't read it since the movie came out in theaters and my copy is almost 20 years old and you can tell LOL

Loved that book I think it's better than the movie.

yeah I loved it to, what I remember of it. I thought the movie was awesome, but of course doesn't follow the book in some regards.

I liked just about all of Crichton's stuff

Same here. I think just about everything I read of his I enjoyed. After Jurassic Park I went on a little kick reading a bunch of his stuff, let's see if I remember all off the top of my head...Jurassic Park, Sphere (I've read it like 3 times), Congo, Terminal Man, The Great Train Robbery, Andromena Strain. And there was a medical thriller I read of his as well, the paperback had a yellow cover...that's all I remember. I'll need to look up his list of books to figure it out.

Crichton. Meh. I gave him three tries. The Andromeda Strain. Congo. Jurassic Park. Not likely to try again. Wouldn't have gone past the first except for recommendations from someone or other I loved (various across the decades).

As with King. Carrie. Salem's Lot. The Stand (long version). As above.

Have been finally reading Lee Childs' Jack Reacher stuff. Quite enjoyable. Lisa found two of the books in a crateload (she just bought the whole crate) at a garage sale last fall. A couple weeks before she went for her knee replacement she bought everything on hand at a bookstore up in Fairlawn. Including those two, because she hates what happens to pocket books when I carry them in my back pocket (especially this recent taller format -- what's with that, a need to make everybody make their bookshelves farther apart). So I've read those two and several from the bag she took to the hospital. I'll probably leave the first two at the overlook on the Kangamagus Highway when I scatter her ashes in a couple days on the way to Porcfest, or maybe on the way back.

Currently rereading Druid's Blood by Esther Friesner, a very different Holmes pastiche and reading Anno Dracula: The Bloody Red Baron by Kim Newman. (One fits in a pocket so I can read during smoke breaks at work, the other doesn't so it stays home).

Gotta get me one of those ereader things. Is there one it's safe to put in your back pocket yet?

Kenji Wrote:Today I finished reading "The Cross" by Scott G. Mariani. It's A Vampire Federation's 2nd novel. I said 1st novel: "Uprising" was the great vampire story. So now, I have to say "The Cross" is the greater vampire story than previous one! The action is nicely written. I couldn't put it down.

You can't believe my words? Trust me, you'll enjoy this series. The novel is very fast paced and easy to read. If you are looking for a good vampire novel like "The Midnight Mass", then I really recommend the first Vampire Federation novel:Uprising, and then you have to get into "The Cross". You won't be disappointed.

You were right; I'm not disappointed! I'm a little more than halfway through Uprising and it is petal to the metal all the way. A fast and furious read indeed.

Crichton's Timeline and Sphere are much better than the the 3 you mentioned (I actually threw Congo away - a first for me). Which Reacher books did you find? I love Jack Reacher. I'm totally boycotting the movie because its a crime to put Tom Cruise in that part.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it, Scott! When you finished it, I'm sure you'll want to read THE CROSS.
