Afraid by Kilborn, who I think is Konrath as well sounds very cool as well. Even F. Paul Wilson gave a good blurb on the Amazon.com reviews that they list.
I have read Origin and really liked it. You are right Konrath and Kilborn are the same person, at least that is what we are told.
I would recommend the Kindle app(only negative is reading on a comp screen rather than a Kindle screen that isn't backlit) if you don't have an eReader. Konrath sets his Kindle prices really nicely and you could get most of his stuff for $2.99. An absolute steal in my opinion. Origin is a good start and there is other really good stuff to be had in his catalogue.
