Scott Miller Wrote:So for Christmas I got the boxed American Gothic DVD set. It was a short-lived horror show from 1995 that both my wife and I really liked when it originally aired-I haven't seen it since. We watched the first two episodes last night and I thought it has aged quite well; it was effectively creepy. It was perhaps best known for its producers: Shaun Cassidy and Sam Raimi. We'll always remember it as the show that gave us our son's name Caleb. Lucas Black, the kid from Sling Blade, portrayed him and Michele thought he was the cutest thing in the world so we determined that if we had a son...
The Mad American Wrote:I remember that series, I liked it as well but it never got a chance to really mature into something great..
The Mad American Wrote:Lucas Black, just saw him in "Legion" (don't bother, it is horrible) he is all grown up now.
Peter Wrote:Never saw American Gothic but I've read the book (not sure wether that came before the TV series or after) and my wife and eldest daughter were addicts when it was on. But that may just be because they lusted after the star! (whose name I can't think of just now) I probably ought to get it on DVD.
I was very let down by Legion too. Paul Bethany was good, Dennis Quaid was good, everyone else was acceptable, the filming was good but the plot was just dire! Shame.
Mr Osala Wrote:I loved American gothic,
I got the U.S. dvd set, but later got the German one too as this has the episodes in the correct running order.
I read the Prequel Novel "Family", Very disapointing, turns out buck gets his powers from some glowing stones at the end of the garden :out:
GeraldRice Wrote:Gary Cole, who you all remember as Mr. Lumbergh from Office Space.
Scott Miller Wrote:Yeah I seem to recall it getting pressure for content and then it became obvious that it was doomed to a single season. The boxed set contains the final four episodes that were previously unaired and according to Cassidy's commentary for the pilot he managed to provide an ending of sorts. As we were watching it, I realized I hardly remember any specifics about the show and have zero recollection as to where it left me hanging.
