I don't think he's referring to smaller than Pluto objects as a planet, but I could be wrong. A lot of people still remember back in the 90's when some of the scientists were proclaiming they could prove there was a large planet on the outskirts of the solar system based upon certain gravitational pulls upon the outer gas giants like Neptune and Uranus. I specifically remember seeing one say, "All that's left is to name it." I'll reserve judgment on this. They must have witnessed something, buuuttt, they've yet to find something. (Like they've found at least ten more moons around Jupiter since my high school days and they've recently found the largest ring around Saturn.
There's a lot to be skeptical about. But with discoveries of all kinds happening, many things that were hinted at in the past could be found possible in a few more years.

I'm not sure that's the ones he was putting down and he may not have even seen that article before.

And that's my beef. I want to know more about what he posted and he gives us a few words to randomly search for the author I asked about. I gave up after ten of them with a similar theory because it's not possible to tell who he was talking about.

[FONT=Arial Black]Okay, by "Scientists elite" and "Narrow-minded idiots" I mean a whole group of people that first blasted Percival Lowell, because he had thought that Mars had canals, and then reported the possible location of Pluto, before he died. It was discovered in 1930, after his death, and he was given credit for it's discovery. But a group of scientists had tried and tried to get the discovery overturned. It took them until 2006, but they finally got their way! So now, instead of having 9 planets, we have another drawf planet added to the kuiper belt!
AND, Ken, I don't have a doctorate in any subject, but neither did Percival Lowell. I have studied physics and astronomy since the late 50's, and have a wide knowledge of the universe. Had I wanted to apply myself towards that goal, I could have had at least two masters degrees, like a good friend of mine, who always considers me to be smarter than him, but I think the reverse!
Also, Ken, if you could be a little less nasty in your replies. This is the MAIN reason that I have been absent from this board, because of too much retoric, back biting, back stabbing, and general BS that drove me away! I may be a little too aware of this situation, as my sister is always hyper-critical of anything like this. If I had an opinion about how someone was raising their children, then she would ask me "Well, how many childraen have you given BIRTH to?" or if I had an opinion about something medical, she would say "Which medical university did you attend?" Always something nasty, like that. So please, try to be aware of how you come off to others when you reply like this, please?

Sorry, but I had that page bookmarked in my "Favorites", and then I ran a new "Registry cleaner" in my computer, which wiped out all of my favorites (Which I had not backed up, I know "Smart move", huh?) and I am attempting to find this person's page, as he made a very logical and well informed theory on this subject, even to the fact that the damage on Mars is only located south of the equator, which I had seen before, but never took it into consideration. He has a plausible explanation for this, that nobody else can explain. The "Elite" just state that this damage was done during creation of Mars, like the asteroid belt!
I will attempt to locate his site again, and I will put it up here for all to see.

That is a very blue, bold italic statement...

To your point about it being a group of elite scientists who were trying to get the definition on Pluto reversed, those kind of things have to be and are heavily peer reviewed, so even if you get a group who have an agenda they want to push to get something accepted in the community as a whole it goes through a very rigorous review by many experts not associated with the group putting forth the hypothesis.

Do I think that agendas don't get pushed by "elite"(your word, just using it) groups? Nope, I am sure it does happen, but it isn't as easy as a group just deciding amongst themselves. Look at the global warming...errr...I mean climate change groups. Very popular notion but still not completely accepted by the entire scientific community(even though proponents of the theory marginalize anyone who dares to question them), and if there was ever a great example a group pushing an agenda without wanting it to be peer reviewed and accepted this would be the group.

And to Ken questioning you the way he did, I think it was justified. You put forth a generalized notion and criticized anyone who didn't agree to the idea without any link to others who support or don't support the idea, making it seem you were taking the stand of expertise and not opinion. Devil is in the details.

Too literal? I'm sorry you feel I have a Literal Agenda!

so, then, as I understnad it, I am going to be wrong, no matter what, and I should just shut the hell up, and just post on other forums, or keep to the "Repairman Jack" subject, per se, huh?

Okay, be that as it may, I will go away again. No need to gang up on me and flame me again. Too much of that around here anyway.

Hold on. I'm one that likes to talk about the oddities in space and especielly in our soler system.

True, that. Ken is indeed a scholar of space weirdness.

Ken, I fergit if we've ever discussed this...

Ever see a UFO?

Yes I have Mike. But I'm not going to credit the few sightings I have to outerspace. They were to vague and too far away.
