He has a plausible explanation for this, that nobody else can explain. The "Elite" just state that this damage was done during creation of Mars, like the asteroid belt!
I will attempt to locate his site again, and I will put it up here for all to see.

That is a very blue, bold italic statement...
To your point about it being a group of elite scientists who were trying to get the definition on Pluto reversed, those kind of things have to be and are heavily peer reviewed, so even if you get a group who have an agenda they want to push to get something accepted in the community as a whole it goes through a very rigorous review by many experts not associated with the group putting forth the hypothesis.
Do I think that agendas don't get pushed by "elite"(your word, just using it) groups? Nope, I am sure it does happen, but it isn't as easy as a group just deciding amongst themselves. Look at the global warming...errr...I mean climate change groups. Very popular notion but still not completely accepted by the entire scientific community(even though proponents of the theory marginalize anyone who dares to question them), and if there was ever a great example a group pushing an agenda without wanting it to be peer reviewed and accepted this would be the group.
And to Ken questioning you the way he did, I think it was justified. You put forth a generalized notion and criticized anyone who didn't agree to the idea without any link to others who support or don't support the idea, making it seem you were taking the stand of expertise and not opinion. Devil is in the details.
