I just finished Fatal Error (never finished one THAT fast. All the things that are brilliant in the other books, this book had them all in spades). But I feel like I've missed something. Unless it's going to be explained in more detail in the next one.

Ground Zero was largely about creating the Fhinttmancha to destroy the Lady. And she still survived. OK. I could see that happening because of the internet.

But then this whole book was about destroying the internet and she STILL survived! And I know what Glaeken said about her becoming a person. And I know what Weezy said about being fed by humanity itself. But it still doesn't make sense to me. I still don't understand how have the rules suddenly changed? And when had the rules changed?

She has always been a product of the noosphere and suddenly we find that after all the worry about the internet and its effects, it doesn't matter. Because she suddenly is existing independently. Furthermore, if she is existing independently, why did she nearly fade away as servers across the world were crashing?

It seems a little deus ex machina to me, but having read every single FPW book and story....at least twice, I feel like it's much more involved than that. And I'm sure I'm just not comprehending the full picture. Can some clarify for me?

P.S. I can't believe I have to wait a whole year again!!!!!!!!! Argh!!!!

Well, when the 'net went down, she was nearly destroyed. As I understand it, the 'net increased her strength, but was not the sole source of her strength. So she was terribly weakened, but not destroyed.

Looking forward to the next (final) installment before NIGHTWORLD.

And it looks as though NIGHTWORLD will be revised more than I originally thought.

I am eager to read FATAL ERROR myself. But I suppose I'll have to wait till Oct. I wouldn't mind having a few spoilers though.

Any new First Age revealations about Gleaken and his time?

P.S- You can PM me the answer. Thanks a lot!

I finished Fatal Error the other day.

SPOILERS BELOW!!!

Another great chapter of the battle toward Nightworld.

It's great seeing Jack and Glaeken working together. And I so love Weezy being part of the fight now, too.
Tie ins with the Septimus Lodge, a Q'qr! and now I so many questions and musings.

I've always wondered.....just why does Jack collect oddities? Is he searching for something specific that he lost as a kid?

Is Jack's father really his biological father? For some reason....this book brought that thought out...it's been something I had been tossing around for a while.

Is Dawn going to join the battle now?

Now to the Lady....I have some ideas about why she didn't disappear when the Net crashed. She has become a reality....more that a representation. She feeds on the human spirit. That spirit that doesn't give up when faced with adversity. I'll stop there.....because I've read Nightworld.

The last thing I'll ask.....the third (?) revision of Nightworld...it's gonna be a big one...isn't it?

So the mysterious Mr. Foster from the young Jack novels was Glaeken. Did I miss that revelation in "Ground Zero" or did Weezy just figure that out?

Weezy discovered that in "Ground Zero".

Could some one PM me with spoilers for FATAL ERROR please? It won't really bother me as I am eager and Oct is so far away.

Been a year since I read it, so I must've forgot. Thanks.

To The Man: Thank you, Sir. You seem to catch me with your phraseology, when I least expect it. You made me freeze cold with..."when the jets hit" to laughing at the imagery of Barbara and a Ace Hardware bag, "Hoo'boy".

I know I'm not the only one that will be sad to see the Jack books end, but know I'll keep reading anything you churn out.

That's a case of making less more. I leave it up to you to imagine what's in the bag.
