I loathe actor threads, been here far too long to even entertain them anymore. But, one thing I have been thinking about with regard to the movie should it ever happen is this:

How will the film franchise lead to Nightworld should they ever see the light of day?

the Tomb pretty much stands alone as a complete work as does Legacies, but anything after that ties into the Adversary Cycle which would have to be referenced.

If it is referenced then Rasalom would have to be mentioned and a line drawn somehow to The Keep. Then in Nightworld the supportinc cast would have to be connected to their respective stories "The Touch", "Reborn", "Reprisal", etc.

Seems awfully complicated unless the jack movies will start with The Tomb and build their own story arc outside of The Adversary Cycle which would just be surreal.

Knowing this I don't know how excited I am about the prospect of RJ making it to the screen.

I don't think it can work, at least with one actor playing Jack throughout the series. I'm still excited to see RJ on the silver screen but in a much lesser capacity. I'm hoping for stand alone version of The Tomb lest the series go the way of James Bond where the only thing shared between the book and the film is the title. In my perfect scenario we would get a remake of The Keep and a Lord Of The Rings type treatment of Reborn, Reprisal and a Nightworld minus Bulmer. Nothing against The Touch, but it just seems too much to get it to tie into movie versions of the AC. That way you could easily get an acor to play Jack for two films instead of 15.

I think the same thing. If The Tomb is made studios might prefer to move onto All the Rage as the next movie because it features Scarlip again.

Ha! Where's Wap? This is his kinda thing.
I'd love to see at least one RJ movie made...let alone a trilogy. But it seems that Hollywood can't do anything lately but make re-makes.

Also, and isn't that the truth?!

If I had my way, it would be a trilogy.

THE TOMB AKA Repairman Jack

LEGACIES

ALL THE RAGE

If these three movies were well done, Repairman Jack could possibly end up becoming the same kind of phenomenon that the James Bond movies have.

I'd say, more likely, any sequels would not be based on rj books. That seems to be the simplest way (and a common tactic), should Repairman Jack get made, and should it get a sequel.

Well, why not just...

...and by "just," I mean let's PRETEND, in a very science fiction-level amount of imagination here, that some producers/company wanted to go through alllllllllll the effort and allllllllll the money to do this...

...just turn it all - every bit of it - into a TELEVISION series?

For the pure visceral approach, yet lots of funding for PROPER production values (namely, special effects and consistent runs), some HBO-like channel for a TRUE BLOOD-like airplay.

Think of it: The Adversary Cycle, Seasons 1-3 (THE KEEP, THE TOMB, THE TOUCH). Then, as a sort of spin-off, REPAIRMAN JACK, seasons 2 through...well, they could compact things a bit so as to not have 15 seasons. Throw in a parallel Adversary Cycle season or three (REBORN, REPRISAL), and then the grand finale to both, NIGHTWORLD.

Again: throw likelihood out the window, and just think in terms of IF it were going to happen. How WOULD it work BEST as a television saga?

A Showtime Series would really be cool!

How about doing it like the Bourne movies? The screenplays are loosely based on their respective novels. And just because Rasalom is in it doesn't mean it has to reference The Keep. There are a gajillion Stephen King movies that take place in Castle Rock. Noteably, you have The Dark Half and Needful Things that had Sheriff Alan Pangborn being played by Michael Rooker and Ed Harris, respectively. Harris' Pangborn didn't seem to give too much mind to the fact that weird stuff tends to happen all the time in CR, like novelists whose dopplegangers are serial killers and all that.

Make as many as the market will bear and as long as they are true to Jack's character I'm there.

They passed an old woman who was just opening the door of a brown Cadillac. An old man was already sitting in the passenger seat. The car had a personalized plate with the letters “J-U-S-P-R-A-Y”.
“That stuff work?” Israel said to her.
“‘Scuse me?” the little old woman said, clutching her keys.
“The spray. Does it keep them away?”
“Keep who away?” She looked confused.
“I gotcha.” Israel gave her a conspiratorial wink.

Just leave the characters and info out that doesn't advance the film franchise.
