I think I said it...what?...5 years ago...they're all dead.
Well I was right. And I didn't start to cry until Vincent laid down next to Jack.

A wild ride...for 6 years. My first hint....again...that they were dead...when Eloise said, "you're going to take my son"...I knew then.

Well I loved the final episode. Really sucks we got almost no answers what so ever, but besides that I really loved the finale. Haha I think for a first one of my predictions was right and Rose and Bernard were the ones who rescued Des Smile I think that made the whole episode worth it. LOL Liked the explanation for the sideways world a lot. I actually didn't think about them being dead really until Christian was alive. I really liked that Ben and Hurley shared the whole "You were a great number two" thing.

Still bummed we got almost no answers, but some how they made me not care.

I was very disappointed. I actually could have liked the ending if I had just gotten a few answers. They never said unlocke's name - I really wanted to know that. And this was all the end, why did we have to set thru episodes of Richards' part and Jacob's past if none of that were real? I was more confused at the end than ever. To me it was too much like the Ending of the Left Behind Series. I just really wanted more to make sense. I didn't throw my remote thru my tv but I was tempted.

I don't understand? I think just the sideways world was them dead. All the rest was real. That's why Christian said there is no 'now' here. Because at some point all of them die. Say Boone was there and he died 3/4 years ago or whatever. And Hurley is there and say he doesnt die for a thousand years as being the protector of the island. They are both there because at some point they died. They all made this sort of make believe world so they could all find eachother once again cause they were the most important people to them because of their time together on the island.

Exactly.

Christian told Jack that some of them had died before him and some of them long after him. Everything on the island was real. The sideways was a place where they could wait for the rest to arrive whenever each of them died,

I got really weepy after it was over, once that all sunk in, thinking about the ones already waiting in my own sideways. It's a really beautiful and hopeful idea when you get right down to it.

Loved the symmetry of the final scene echoing the very first scene in reverse. And I also didn't care that we didn't get more answers. The story they told tonight was what it was always all about. That's all that matters.

One last thought for now - for a few minutes there, I really thought Maggers' volcano was going to erupt. Then I was almost disappointed when it didn't. Wink

I cried four times. Especially Jin and Sun's moment and Sawyer and Juliet's moment. Cop-out finale avoided answering any questions, really. But watching the finale with an audience-filled theater made up for that. So the sideways flashes were the "religious ending" the producers spoke of on Thursday's Q&A event.

Anyway....after Hurley and Ben die, someone else takes over the keep of the island I suppose. When Locke wiggled his toes so soon after surgery in the flash sideways, I knew it was all either a dream or they were all dead.

Pissed about finding out the Kimmel endings were an in-joke. I haven't watched it yet. Maybe tomorrow.

Liked the ending, but disappointed overall. Too burnt out right now after several hours sitting on my butt. No applause after the finale. Everyone was either weeping or in stunned silence. My fellow group didn't even want to get together afterwards. We just said bye and that was it.

I'll catch up with the LOSTpedia summary tomorrow or thereafter. And I will be renting the finale for the extra "Q&A" that will be on the dvd set.

Wow. It's over. That was it. Sigh....

Yeah...apparently theres a LOT of confusion about what actually happened. The way I understood it,everything that happened HAPPENED,except in the sideways universe which WAS the afterlife that the castaways had created for themselves. The people on the plane got away. Jack died on the island. The people who died were already dead....they just all met up on the other side and moved on together. It was...incredibly cliche and cheesy and sappy and it damn near made me cry like a baby in front of an entire room full of friends and strangers. The final shot with Jack and Vincent....they managed to tug my heartstrings like a harp from hell, and I really didnt mind. I understand the folks that are pissed...they really manipulated our emotions and managed to avoid answering almost ALL of the lingering questions but....I watch stuff like this FOR the emotional response it provokes. It doesnt really matter to me where the statue came from or what the backstory for the DHARMA group was...in the end I was moved. Maybe that makes me a sap,but I enjoyed the ride LOST took me on.

Not a sap at all, I think I cried the entire two and a half hours Big Grin

That was perfect, I don't want to overanalyse it too much and spoil what was an awesome final moment.
