I think everyone is missing the big question from last night-

If the movie takes place in China and Jackie Chan teaches Jaden Smith Kung Fu why is it called The Karate Kid?

That is why I boycott this movie. LOL

No really hearing about this movie being remade a while ago I hated the idea. Change the movie so entirely much(a movie that still gets played quite regularly and really doesnt need a remake) why call it The Karate Kid? Though early on they had changed the title as well. Rolleyes

That statement makes me think Desmond will bring all the characters to Eloise. From there, well, I don't know. LOL

You know that Jackie Chan's character isn't even named Myagi. I looked up on IMDB and there isn't a familiar character name at all.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Hurley will take over the lead, and that's based on Hurley's saying out loud that he was glad he wasn't picked. Words like that often come back to haunt folks on this Island, or, to put it another way, they foreshadow what is to come.

Jacob told Jack that he will have the position of Island Protector as long as he can do it. That doesn't necessarily mean for a long time. It could be just until MIB is done away with, which also might mean doing away with Jack, and then Hurley will step in. But what about the passing of the cup?

I think you may be right about Jack. I've been thinking about it and there was one thing in the episode that struck me as odd right away but I needed to think on it a bit. Jacob cast his spell over water from the stream that he had cupped in his hands. Then he let that water go back into the stream. He filled Jack's cup directly from the stream.

So Jacob didn't fill Jack's cup first then do his magic on just that single cup of water. He put the magic into the stream.

I think now, anyone who drinks from that stream will become like Jacob. Even a...dog. Vincent! Our hero! Ok, maybe not Vincent, but imagine how difficult it would be for MIB to have to kill several "Jacobs" instead of just one replacement. Assuming that it is harder for him to kill someone who has Jacob's powers, having several "protectors" at the same time might make it impossible for MIB to do what he wants to do.

Also Hurley was only damaged and alone because of the bad luck of the numbers. So he was pretty much damaged by the island.

And where did Hurley get the numbers in the first place? From a guy who was in the same mental hospital Hurley was in. Hurley was there because he was not coping well with an accident involving a collapsed balcony that killed some people - a balcony that collapsed after Hurley joined the other people on it.

He was alone, at least to his way of thinking then. He was damaged, lonely and afraid ever since his dad left when Hurley was just a child. He didn't have many friends and didn't get out much (remember his mother getting on his case about sitting home on a Friday night watching tv and eating chicken?). He isolated himself so much he even invented an imaginary friend - remember Dave?

I love Hurley and as I've said before, he's the best of them all. But he was also flawed just like the others.

colburn0004 Wrote:Also on a side note I think it's all but obvious Juliet is Jack's ex and will meet Sawyer at the ball they are all going to and most likely will say the line from the first episode.

I've been hoping Jack's ex wouldn't turn out to be Juliet, but since we have not yet seen a sideways Juliet and there is only one show left, (sob!) it doesn't seem like it can be any other way anymore.

Oh well. As long as she and Sawyer hook up and get to have a happy ending together. That's what matters.

What a great thought about Bernard and Rose being the ones who helped Desmond out of the well! I just bet you're right! That makes me smile. Smile

OOooohhhhh, good catch! I love that, and I bet you are correct. And MIB won't know, won't get it, and will wonder how come he can't kill all these folks. Woot!
