I don't remember the episode number, but Kate was on the beach maybe with Sawyer?. Kate picked up the "doll" that was in the crib.

That heinous "doll" made with animal parts??? That was never on the beach. That's been with Claire in her hovel in the jungle, where she kept a crib (probably from the medical hatch where she'd been brought for testing) and that thing because, as she told Kate, "it's all she had."

Kate never picked it up, she just asked in a startled fashion, "what is that?" and that's when Claire answered as above.

The crib where the ring is found by Sun is the crib made for Claire's baby (and coincidentally, Claire's birthday) by the original John Locke.

I don't think Kate has been to the survivors' beach camp since she got back to the Island in present time.

I must have confused the beach camp with the spot in the woods that Claire made for herself.
