Might be a bit too late for this, but if anyone is going to buy Ground Zero and The Lost Symbol... Wait a few weeks before buying The Lost Symbol.

here'a another Barnes n Noble rant- which I went to after findin out our local Borders in the mall had closed (wth?). sorry, no indies overly close to anything I was doing today.

the 'new releases' are all happily stacked out front like hopeful puppies at the shelter waiting for a new home. massive multiple displays of the new Dan Brown book, and all kinds of side tables of 'related' materials or 'similar' reading. no FPW. I ask a sales clerk. she gives me a blank look and says check with customer service in the back, if they have it in stock they should be bale to find it. I locate a manager back there who leads me back up to the front displays and starts pointing out tables and shelves as if I haven't already managed to ascertain for myself it is NOT there. he finally gives up and says he will go check the status. five minutes later he returns and tells me they don't have it, never got it in, and only ordered five copies. "five?" I ask, incredulous, "are you kidding me?" he tells me its not their fault, it's the publisher who made those arrangements. he says he has no clue when it will arrive. he bustles off without even offering to order it for me- a big NoNo in the sales world.

effiing idiots.

I was with Brian when he picked up his copy. There were only 2 copies on display in Borders....and that was in stacks.
And I certainly DID NOT pick up Dan Brown's book. Not this week...not next week. Maybe not ever.

Sorry - today is the Wifes birthday and she wanted it, who am I to tell her no. I read it all while she was working, wasn't impressed with it. Same story warmed over american style and I guessed the big reveal for the book about a third of the way into it.
