A most excellent vampire book. I was in need of a good (proper) vampire story when I came across it. Definitely a fun ride.

Now if you haven't read Draculas yet, you're in for a serious thrill ride.

The first one for me was The Tomb back in 2007. I remember leaving for work early that day so that I could read a bit in the parking lot before my shift started and becoming completely hooked. I then read more during my lunch break, and then stayed up almost all night with it once I was home. The next day I went out and bought Legacies just so I knew I would have the next tale ready to go once I finished The Tomb. It was great. I had been searching for quite a while for a new author to read at that point in my life, one who could really weave an amazing tale, and F. Paul Wilson fit the bill perfectly.

Greetings all !

My sincere apologies for being away for so long, I've been rather busy trying to track that 'goth' girl down to get my book back...Wink

I'm surprised/glad to see that this thread is still going, even after an entire year has passed.Smile

Also, it appears that after reading all the threads, The Tomb is what got most readers hooked; I have to hand it to that Repairman Jack guy, he sure has a lot of fans!

Well, any how, keep your stories on how you became a fan coming, and I'll probably throw some more posts up later tonight/early morning...

I'll bet it was a pleasent surprise to FPW as well. Who would have imagined that he would end up practically making a career out of Repairmen Jack.

I first read THE KEEP -- which I found at the book exchange on Catalina Island. I then found THE TOMB, and NIGHTWORLD.

I was hooked, and spent a good deal of time haunting used book stores for anything else he had written -- most of his books were out of print at the time.

My first one was a stripped copy of The Tomb at a job I had in 1988. When the company stopped selling books, the put all the books into a sort of library of sort in a storage room. I just remember the name of the book, not Paul's name:o. For years I kept a eye for the book in stores since I enjoyed it so much and wanted to make sure the author got his royalties from a satisfied reader. Then I seen the Adversary cycle books with a blurb on the back saying, "From the author of The Tomb." Since then I collect Paul's books.Confusedmilewinkgrin:

My first book was The Keep, years and years and years ago. The The Barrens, when it originally came out. I also bought Freak Show when it came out (I love anthologies, and this was is a favorite!). Nothing more until a month or so ago, and since then, every book he has on iBooks. Eventually, I'll hit the used stores (abe.com) and get everything not on iBooks.

It was July 2010.

I was at the book store looking for a horror book because I love scary movies. I was looking in that section and looking at Stephen King books. I knew I did not want a King book and around his books I picked up The Tomb. King was quoted on how he liked The Tomb, so I got it. I flew through the book and I was hooked on the Repairman Jack series. Finally, the last couple of books Wilson put out the Secret History of the World, so now I am starting the Adversary Cycle while I wait for the last RJ book!!!
