Let's not forget Milk Dud in LEGACIES. Be nice to see all of Jack's friends back for the final mission in the revised NIGHTWORLD.

So they made it a skeleton. Kind of garish, no?

I said it on Facebook, i'll say it here. Sorry, but I hate it.

The font used for the name Jack reminds me of MacGuyver and all of those other eighties shows ( which given the setting I guess works sorta ) and while the colors get your attention it is, to quote Huey Lewis in Back to the Future, just too damned loud.

I don't know...there's something about the skeletal arm that looks odd to me...almost like it was stuck in the mud there (no body underneath or anything) and it also looks too long. I actually think the hand (in the top cover) would look a lot better if the fingers were curled. That way it wouldn't look like someone was needed a lift out of a hole.

Remember, sig, that cover artwork is designed to get the attention of a potential buyer. That's its =only= job. And I think this cover does that pretty well.

Well, thats your opinion (in regards to your last sentence). If it was me and I didn't know anything about the books or the author I might pick it up and read the back synopsis...and that is a pretty big "might".

But that could be why as awesome as FPW is not evreyone in the entire world has read his stuff...the artwork might not appeal to alot of potential recruits.

Sure. But you are =not= the target audience, sig. You know Paul's fiction, and will buy anything with his name on it. If you're a 15 year old guy looking for a fun read, and you see a cover with two guys your age, and a skeleton hand reaching up, you just might pick it up. No necessarily buy it. But check it out.
(And if your name is Jack, that's a sale!Wink)

Sigokat is correct about the arm being too long and it's position. A body exposed, even partially buried isn't going to last in the woods like that. Scavengers would come along and carry it, in parts, away.

But to convey the jolt of two teens finding a body, the cover would get the attention sought. The lettering in red just adds to the grab.

The trees ... don't really care what kind are shown, any forest has more than just one kind of tree so it would stand to reason the Pine Barrens do as well, so that doesn't really matter.
Love the red with the black silhouettes, very eye-catching. The skeleton is better than the hand, it does look like they're ignoring someone in the first one, tho I'd have made the skeleton maybe a little more "limp" so it's not reaching straight out, but regardless the skeleton is good.
Looking forward to reading it!

Skeleton version is more better. Very neat!
