Good choice! He's 33, 5'10, has brown eyes and, from all the pictures I've seen, the one you posted is probably his "most handsome" ...others are more average which is exactly what we need.

Plus, unlike Des Harrington, his hairline isn't receding.

Here's another, "more average" pic from last year:

(In case you didn't see it on the other forum thread) YES YES YES to Sam Worthington!
I agree w/ everything you said above and afterward with respect to him playing RJ
Every single time I try to envision Jack, Sam Worthington's image floods my mind esp in T: Salvation because of the post-apocalyptic world setting (I'm sure he can battle the monsters just as well as he did the machines)...ahhh the possibility.....

Can somebody make the bloody movie already??????:mad2:
Please, pretty please, with a cherry on top?:yesnod:

I'm sorry, but with all that's going on with the studios, with a total halt of any "James Bond" movies "for at least five years" I really don't see how anyone could make an RJ movie. Add to that, the fact that the studios REALLY screwed up "Hitchhikers" (which I dearly loved) and I really couldn't see them doing something like that to Jack. Now, if I had a work of love, like the RJ and Adversary novels, I would hold onto them with steel fists, and NEVER let them get near a movie studio! To do the series correctly, you would have to have 3 or 4 movies each year, just to maintain the timeline of the books, and even then, Vickie would be getting SOOOOOO old by the production of "Fatal Error". Plus, one thing you people had not thought about or mentioned here was, like the James Bond movies, the studios would hire different people after the 3rd or 4th movie, and we would have a different Jack, a new Abe, a younger Vickie, and a darker blonde Gia!!! I really HATE when they do that in movies. Like Harve Bennett said when Star Trek 3 came out with Robin Curtis playing Savvic:
"you will never notice the difference" RIGHT!!! Even Stevie Wonder could notice the difference!!!!:out:
I'm not sure that everyone really thought about what it would mean to bring out a movie. Add to that, that "The Tomb" would possibly be the only movie to come out, and eveyone would be comparing it to "Alien" or crap like that!
All this talk about who would make a good Jack is only lip service. We have to think about the whole production, and what ALWAYS goes wrong when Hollyweed makes a movie out of a book. VERY seldom does it come out right!

They could, whether they would or not is another matter.

The script has already been done, and Paul has said that he's satisfied with it. Furthermore, it's not even remotely likely that there would be movies made of the entire RJ series of books. I would expect that there might be three movies made -- at most. THE TOMB, LEGACIES, and one other . . . possibly.

In a sense, the whole purpose of making a movie in the first place would be to spread the word about Repairman Jack, "based on the novel by ...," in order to create more fans and sell more books. Which is a good thing.

That's how a great many people came to know about FPW's novels to begin with -- after THE KEEP was made into a movie, a good number of people saw the "based on a novel by ...," went out, bought the book, and became ardent fans of F.Paul Wilson.

I think if Ron Howard is successful with how he's making The Dark Tower, the Repairman Jack series could be made in a similar way.

It would go: First movie, a season of hour-long tv shows, second movie, a second season of tv shows, and third and final movie.

The thing is, the movie trilogy needs to be able to stand alone from the tv show. The trilogy could go The Tomb, Gateways and Nightworld. I chose Gateways because it's near the middle, it has the first real talk with The Lady, a climatic battle that includes Rasalom and a gateway with chew wasps that will foreshadow Nightworld. And the tv episodes could fill in on everything else. Maybe even some of Reprisal.

Everything could be filmed back-to-back in the space of a few years. Sets could be reused and the actress playing Vicky won't grow up between the movies.

Why wouldn't vicky grow up? What would you do between films? Freeze-dry her? Smile

Think about it for a minute. The RJ series takes place for the most part over a span of 3 years or so if I'm correct. A kid actress will obviously grow older as the filming happened, if done back to back. That versus a series of films done over 5 or 6 years and a child that will maybe be too old to continue playing the part.
