Anyone see "Castle", on ABC, Monday night?
I always get a kick out of Nathan Fillion's work. This time, I sat coughing and feverish with a cold, and decided to check it out. He's a whirlwind, and the show is stylish, but the first script seemed to be only slightly better than the old NBC Mystery Movie "Bannacek" skeleton of story construction. Perhaps producers think the "formula" is just right, and deserves repetition every season, and, sure, the "love-interest-murder-mystery" pattern is not only successful, it can be very satisfying (love the way they've handled it on "Bones"), but one hopes this treads new ground.
The unique thing, apart from Nathan Fillion's performance, was the appearance of Stephen J. Cannell and James Patterson as friends of Castle, who is a novelist. I wonder if they'll keep bringing authors on. Could be fun.
Just thought I would bring it up and see if anyone saw the show. I'd been looking forward to it, and it wasn't bad. Not stellar, but not bad.

Dang it I missed this! I wanted to watch it but I forgot to. I, too, want to know if it was any good. Anyone see it?
I did! I watch everything Nathan Fillion does, pretty much. I enjoyed it, but I don't see anything new or different here. I'll keep watching it simply because Nathan Fillion makes me giggle, but I don't know if the show will be strong enough to last more than a season.

I watched Castle and quite enjoyed it, but agree with the previous assessments - nice looking, formulaic and Nathan Fillion is a lot of fun to watch. But if all it has going for it is Nathan Fillion, chemistry, and interesting supporting characters then I fear it will soon resemble Bones, a show which ran ideas a while back and now the writers/producers are just collecting a paycheck.
