I'm starting to think Widmore has very little to do with anything off the island right now. I think Ben sent those guys with the tranquilizer guns after Sayid because it'd be easy to bring Sayid back if he was knocked out. Ben had the one guy watching for Hurley. Is it possible for Ben to have arranged for Nadia's death? Why would Widmore give Sun a gun to kill Ben when Widmore knows that Ben is the best chance of finding the island again? Locke visited Walt at some point, does Walt have to go back too?

I agree that Ben is probably behind every nasty or unsettling thing that has happened off the Island, all done to manipulate the Oceanic 6 to get back.

As for Walt, I've felt that the Island was not pleased with him. I suspect we will see him again. Did you see the mini videos from last season, one of which is about Walt and how the Others had such difficulty controlling him, how he killed so many birds while in captivity. I got the feeling that Jacob was very willing to let him go. I wrote a lot about Walt last year, but I'm too lazy to go back and find it.

However, whatever was written in the past about LOST almost doesn't apply anymore because of all that we've learned since, so much of which wasn't anticipated, at least by me.

I might be blanking but did we ever find out why Sayid doesn't trust Ben now? Also is there to be anything seen in the fact that later on Danielle doesn't recognize Jin? Or at least mention him. Do we take that as this isn't a loop type time travel to where what they are doing now in the past has not happened before in the future that they have been through?

That would mean the past was changed.....and I was under the impression that couldn't be. Hey....but I could be wrong.

Well, it's the past, and when she and her party rescue him, Danielle hadn't yet met Jin. It's obviously 16 years or so before the crash of Oceanic 815. So why would she, how could she, recognize him? Jin has no clue that he has travelled in time. He hasn't witnessed any of the time travelling stuff that we have all seen; I don't think he was privvy to any of that on the freighter. He's going to be mighty confused.

Wow, I don't even understand that question. LOL

We don't know yet. Last year, Sayid seemed less than happy to be killing folks for Ben (he cried a lot) but he was willing to go along with it. Now, Sayid doesn't seem so eager for Ben's company, but we don't know exactly why.

I'm not going to read through all the posts about this week's episode The Little Prince, so if I repeat something I apologize.

But I seriously have to ask...am I really the only person that has found Season 5 to be painfully predictable and definitely not up to the high expectations we had for this season?

1. Dan's one line to Miles has pretty much confirmed that Miles is in fact Pierre Chang's baby. The age would match up.

2. We knew that eventually the ones still left on the Island would run into themselves. I did like that it was Sawyer witnessing Claire giving birth. Perhaps that will give him more motivation to start looking for her again. Remember, the only one that saw her in the cabin was Locke.

3. Ben being the client was confirmed when he met the lawyer in the parking garage. Now what his motivations were I don't know. Ben didn't need to confirm that Aaron wasn't Kate's baby...he already knew that.

4. Jin being alive...again no surprise. Since this is a television show we have to suspend our disbelief by seeing Jin survive the freighter explosion and subsequent shockwave that would have, in real life, torn his body to shreds even if he had managed to jump overboard. Also, Danielle Russoe (sp?)...another weak reveal. As soon as Locke and the others discovered the wreckage, and then the shot of the life raft...I knew Danielle was the female. So again, no surprise. Even though it was cool to see Jin's reaction to hearing her name.

5. In order to turn this post into something positive I will say I am enjoying trying to figure out Ben's ulterior motives, even though I hope he really is concerned with the Island's safety (which I believe he is) more so than his own desire to return.

Also, it's pretty neat to see the Island moving through time. I didn't realize the light in the sky was from the hatch until Locke said so. And I'm curious who was shooting at the group when they were on that little boat. Black Rock crew perhaps?

So overall, Season 5 is turning out to be my least favorite season. Perhaps when I get back from leave and catch up on the next 3-4 episodes after these it will be better. I'll never give up on LOST, I was just hoping for more...that's all.

I wondered about that myself when Desmond woke up that night suddenly "remembering" that Daniel had banged on the hatch and told him he had to save them. Desmond didn't really remember until "after" (these terms get confusing) Daniel and the others had gone back in time. In this sense it doesn't seem like a loop really. I've been trying to figure out if the Locke / Richard Alpert thing fits this scenario or not. I don't think we know conclusively based on what we've seen that Richard already "knew" Locke when he visited him as a child. If he DID, then that seemingly contradicts the non-loop theory where Desmond didn't remember the Daniel incident until "now" and that Danielle of last season for example didn't remember Jin from 16 years prior.
