...Here's my take. The people who are time-shifting are those that came to the island, that is, people who originally didn't belong there. But this doesn't explain why Frank Lapidus doesn't time-shift. And also Sun (if she's the woman who went with Frank on the canoe). So take that with a pinch of salt!

Well, Ben came to the Island, albeit as a child, but he wasn't born there. Few are, in fact, because it seems women cannot conceive there. At least they couldn't during the reign of Ben. Who knows about pregnant women of other times and eras on the Island. For instance, it seems Charlotte was born on the Island. Perhaps her mother didn't conceive her on the Island, though. Gets very tricky, this Island business....

That's true, but then, everyone - except those that were born there - came to the island at some point. It's hard to describe what I mean. Think of it this way - people who time-shift are outsiders to the island. They aren't native to the island or particularly want to be there but were brought there and kept there against their wishes.
That said, there are big holes in this idea. The main one being Sun. But also Frank - if Daniel, Charlotte and Miles are jumping, then why isn't he?
I think I'll also jump on the bandwagon of giving up trying to figure this out and just wait until the TV show decides to let me know!

I totally can't remember Keamy trying to kill Michael. This is clearly why I shouldn't try and figure Lost out!

A random thought, as I sit watching the enhanced version of last week's LOST episode. Are the enhanced episodes available overseas? For those who don't know what they are, the episodes are enhanced with explanations from the authors of various and sundry things in the episodes, links to this and that. I like the enhanced versions.

I thought Keamy couldn't kill Michael because Michael still had work to do. His multiple suicide attempts included. When Michael finally finished his work. Then he was allowed to die.

Wait... The island kept Michael alive so he could delay that bomb from going off thus rescuing Jin, lapedus, Desmond, Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Sayid and Aaron. So all but one can leave the island. Now the island wants them all back.
