Good Lord, what a lame thread. No one knows that Mr. Belvedere originated in a film called "Sitting Pretty" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040795/).

It. Is. Hilarious. I can't believe no one here has referenced it. Rich E., where are you?

And a further glance at the IMDB shows two sequels (or at least other movies featuring the same character) also starring Clifton Webb, "Mr. Belvedere Goes to College" (1949) and "Mr. Belvedere Rings the Bell" (1951). There was also apparently a 1965 TV movie with Victor Borge in the title role. Guess I'll have to track those (and "Sitting Pretty") down.
