I'm thinking of earlier ones, with the outline, possible dialogue, written in Paul's own hand. The ones I have all start with, "WARNING!--Do Not Read This Outline Before You Read the Book!" Which of course, means you read that =first=:p! Not really. But it's fun to check out when you've finished the book. If you can decipher Paul's sawbone's handwriting, that is.

The google definition included, "appearance," "publication." Would that carry the same flavor in French?

Apparence would be a book that looks like a book but is not one (arrrgh!)

Publication is fine, though there might be technical differences with parution.

Back to Srem. If she is the Dog Lady, how did she manage to become everone's mother?

If she had been the better half of the only couple having survived the flood, how does it not show in our genes?

Dadburnit, I gotta back up and read the whole thread. See, Lys, I'm a crude hombre. Don't think much about the metaphysics of the Jack novels. Like the pages where he kicks ass the best.

Too much testoterone.

If Srem is the Dog Lady, maybe she put some of herself in all women surviving the flood?

I don't believe a guy can have too much testosterone. Though some fellas let it rule them, and that's where problems start.

Back to spoilers

If the Q'qr were created by inserting something of the Otherness into their DNA (probably a heavy load of testosterone), could Srem have inserted some of her DNA into women?
