Robbie Coltrane is 59 this year and so would be an excellent choice.

However, assuming that filming starts in 2011, and as the sequels pile up, 12 years from now, at 71, I defy anyone, even Robbie Coltrane, to pass for 58.

Philip Seymore Hoffman is about to turn 42...and every year that filming doesn't start he gets another year closer to Abe's age.

If you've seen his character in Charlie Wilson's War, then you know that he plays an excellent crank...he'd be a great candidate for Abe in the last few movies in the series (12-15 years from now).

"Who's Your Cast?" is a fun thread, but why are we kidding ourselves? The Jack movie won't be made in our lifetimes.

True, but it's interesting to reflect for a few minutes on who might be good for each character.

Then we can move on with reality, again.

Axioms Jack seems to live by (inadvertantly or not):

Why he does what he does: "I chose this life. I know what I'm doing. And on any given day, I could stop doing it. Today, however, isn't that day. And tomorrow won't be either." Bruce Wayne, Identity Crisis

On Rasalom: "Water's wet, the sky is blue...and good old Satan Claus, Jimmy...he's out there...and he's just gettin' stronger." Joe Hallenbeck, The Last Boyscout

I will get out my JVC camera and film the damn thing myself if I have to!

As for the rest:
Hoffman is an admirable nomination and I agree that he'd be able to last longer in the series then some of our loder nominees.

Vargas has always been my number one pick because I can picture him in the bar with dead plants a sign that says "free beer tomorrow" and trying to convince Jack that his new cologne is a babe magnet.

This!

Question...how will you get Ryan Reynolds to take off his shirt for little or no money? The womenses of the board will WANT to know.

The more I look at Vargas, the more I like him as Abe. Your brainwashing has succeeded, Seph!

Someone call Guinness Book! I changed my mind on a cast member!

Heh.

I think you mean Vargas as Julio, didn't you? Cause I'm not sure he's got the chutzpah [may be misspelled].

As for Mr. Reynolds. I can replace him, I wasn't too crazy about him to begin with. I would do my own state wide indy film search and find the best unknown Jack I can. And if he has any qualms about going shirtless, he can walk pantless all the way home.

Well, your brainwashing can only do so much...it couldn't stop me from accidentally typing Abe instead of Julio. Apparently my brain is still fighting the programming.

My bad.

You might want to stick a pan in your shorts first.

My microwave's at eye-level...and I've had all the kids I'm gonna have.
